Because Ronaldo and Morata are responsible for Juventus securing replacements and okaying transfers.

They also bought Kean and Icardi how dare they not prioritize their director of football duties at Juventus
Cherubini:"The week before the game against Udine, we were sure he would have stayed. I don’t want to be hypocritical and say that it was nice to manage this situation on August 28th. Everybody would have been happier to handle something similar a month earlier.
The only risk is that a player like Kean may not have been available at that point, not all the players are waiting until August 31 to know if Ronaldo will stay or leave. It’s impossible to replace Ronaldo."

Agresti on VS:

- He described the Morata situation as 'feet with lead'. Moving slowly, we do not have a replacement, should not just assume he will leave. Today it is much more likely he will not leave at all than the deal goes through
- Negotiotiations for Icardi did not even start, there was just one phone call 10 days ago, nothing more

Many were asking and I would like to specify one thing. With Morata gone, one of either these two would substitute him as of today: Icardi represents the classical market opportunity, Scamacca is for the future with an eye on the present. None of these options are simple, a 9 is needed.

Morata decided to leave Juve. - Pedullà edit: but Juve told him he'll stay.
Less Icardi, more Morata. - GDM
