We need to do everything in our power to get Vlahovic

Realistically who would be in for him?
Barca have no money and he isn't a barca style player
City have money but I don't see him as a city style player or big enough name for them
Liverpool are sorted
Chelsea have Lukaku
Real will go for Mbappe
Bayern if Lewa leaves? I could see this happening.

Then there is also Haaland who will go to one of these clubs
Psg when Mbappe goes? I feel Vlahovic isn't splashy enough for them

I think leonardo likes buying players from serie a so if they can't get haaland they will surely target Vlahovic. I think our realistic chance is to sign Vlahovic in January but that means more than 60 million euros transfer fees which we can pay if we sell kulusevksi for 40 million euros.

Di Marzio seems to reckon that we'll sell Kulu in order to fund the Scamacca move instead :wallbang:

I'm confident we could have got Vlahovic last summer after his breakout. I don't think the likes of Man City were interested then. That is when you take the risk on young players, when they breakout. Vlahovic has now gone past that by putting up consistent numbers for 2 seasons. I'm happy to take the risk on a player after 1 season. Scamacca hasn't had a season like that yet. If he does in the second half of the season there is more of an argument.

Abraham had scored over 20 goals in a season twice (Championship) and 15 goals in the premier league in another. Scamacca has never score more than 10 goals in a season at any level. Plus English players come at a premium.

If you are happy spending 30/40m and having Scamacca as our main striker based on what he has shown so far fair enough.
I understand what you mean if we sign Scamacca we’re going to give him and Kean a huge responsibility. It would be doable if Dybala and Chiesa provided us a bit more

Scamacca is a interesting profile and I think his style would fit us very well, and that even Kean - Scamacca should be able to work at a certain point, it’s inevitable that they will play together in a busy schedule.

He doesn’t provide any certainties which we need. Difficult decision if it’s true that we can’t get Vlahovic

Kean and Scamacca as our two centre forwards is pretty worrying.

I like him and he has potential but come on, that is a Roma level forward profile at the most and that is a stretch. If we want to win anything we need better.

Times are tough now, we don't have the budget to throw 40m on players who have proven little. When we had Ronaldo or Higuain's first few seasons then a young forward with potential like Scamacca would be ideal as backup like the role Zaza had a few years ago.

You also need to think about the impact on the player. He doesn't seem ready to deal with the pressure of being the number 1 striker at a top team. In the game v Genoa last season after we were linked to him, he played like a guy trying to prove something and couldn't handle it. He should be eased into a team without the weight of being the guy needed to score goals.

Our next few transfer windows are absolutely crucial to determine whether we will be scudetto challengers again and face years of mediocrity fighting for a top 4 like Milan. I think we no longer have the luxury of being able to throw big amount of money purely on potential, we need more certainty from players who can come in and improve the starting lineup immediately.

vlahovic: 9 penalties in 2021
ronaldo: 13 penalties in 2020

@Ronn not bad :boh:
He’s a good player alright. But I’d like to see these stats on the backdrop of his massive price tag and risk. His only non-penalty goals this season against a top 7 team were against Milan. He’s nothing like Halland and Ronaldo imo for that very reason. If you pay 70m for a player you expect him to perform against anybody.

Now with De Ligt going we have more problems to deal with
Yeah but it could also be a blessing to be honest.
We dont have money and Its tough to say MDL gave us what we wanted as he obviously hasnt. He is good and I definitely want him to stay but if we pay 85M for a defender I expect him to deliver like Chiellini.
MDL out means we get around 80M
Rabiot is wanted by Newcastle IIRC and Newcastle definitely have funds.
Ramsey - We will probably get rid of him as well
I truly expect us to get Vlahovic although Im not sure Pogba would want to join us if we fail to qualify for the CL.
Martial could be another option for our team as he is known to come from the left while we dont really have anyone to do this.
Luis Alberto is also on problematic terms with Lazio so we should pounce on him as well.

Finally - We have to decide what to do with the CB situation as Chiellini Bonucci has been great when they were both on their prime but they are aging and wouldnt last more than one more year.
Demiral - Is he out or just a loan and will be back - We could monitor his situation and see if he improves.
Rugani - Who am I kidding we should just skip to who we should get...
Potential CBs: There are a lot of young CBs out there who have rep but havent got the rep MDL had. I dont think we should look at older ones as except for Ramos I cant think about a defender that is good enough but he as well is injured.
It will be tough but its doable.

We sold Zidane for Buffon, Thuram, and Nedved who stayed with us until their career ends, three amazing players even though Zidane was also a great player. We can do the same with De Ligt and this is a defender we're talking about here. We could sacrifice him for Vlahovic and a great midfielder given that we could get over 100M for De Ligt.
