Pretty much exactly this. Hard to get a top class quality player in January without overpaying and teams are more inclined to operate in summer where some teams seasons aren't hanging in the balance like in January (i.e. Dortmund). Besides, we don't exactly know how far we will go in the CL. We could potentially advance to the next round which would give us additional funds for summer that we didn't have in summer.

Additionally, operating in winter with less funds might make the club more inclined to cash in on our youth out on loan/co-own whereas in summer we wouldn't be rushed into having to make that kind of decision. If we get our injured players back I don't think we need any reinforcements this summer. I genuinely believe our depth signings are done now otherwise we would have seen Marotta sign some low-level named players from somewhere in Italy. Only positions I am nervous about is LB but we have a healthy Evra (CL), Padoin (League) and if neccessary Caceres if he stays fit.

Save the money if you can't get a guaranteed starter since we can't afford a Man City 40m buy in January. Move in the summer when other teams are more inclined to listen to offers.

Tevez combines workrate with skill, and that is a rare trait in a forward. I LOVE Jovetic's skills, but, the workrate? Not so sure.
