Do you think its more necessary than improving our attack? I dont think so tbh.

Licht is atleast reliable defensively. The problem is with our lack of width which means onus is on Licht to provide attacking impetus from the right side which he's unable to do so cos of his limited ability.

Adding more offensive options would mean that responsibility is reduced and we'd also become less predictable in our play in the process.
I think we're able to buy a RB and a CAM in the same transfer market. :D

Bit of Ogbonna hate in the last few pages. I think he'll come good for us and be a mainstay in defense for the foreseeable future. I like what I'm seeing from him this season. Had the same shaky start Bonucci had at Juve before he gradually improved. Ogbonna has always had more potential though IMO.

I feel like this niggling injury of Barzagli's might end up putting him out of action for good considering his age and the type of injury. Bonucci, Ogbonna, Chiellini, Caceras and Rugani is a fairly solid group.

Don't even see why people moan about our CB department as a whole.

Pretty much every elite team has 1 or fucking 2 mistake prone, shaky CBs in their line up, we've easily got the best stacked CB department going so it's almost like people want us to perform magic and create 2 World Class CBs out of thin air, because short of that, we're not improving our starting XI CBs

We need to focus on wide areas, we're so fucking narrow. Another top class CB wouldn't improve the team half as much as a decent player who can get shit done in wider areas.

Not now, but perhaps in the summer when an opportunity arrives.

We should never buy in the winter unless forced.

Offcourse it is. Each other area is excellent
AM is far from perfect. Pereyra and Coman doesn't provide enough quality. We need someone to be able to take some responsibilities from Tevez who looks dead and we're only halfway through the season. We're very good in defense as things stand.

I'd take Vidic on loan as a bench player for the UCL campaign. He could add some needed experience to our backline in the case of injuries in the UCL.

You have to take into consideration the situation at inter:
-He played in a 3 in the back system after playing a decade with 4 in the back.
-He is playing on a team that for lack of a better word is pretty terrible.
-He is adapting to calcio, which is very different than English football.
-He is on the decline.

As a sub in a back four with Allegri I'm sure he'd be serviceable, and frankly in a UCL final, if we have injuries, I'd much rather see him play than Ogbonna.

I'm more than happy bringing in 1-2 veterans for the Champions League, even if they come off the bench.

Does that mean I'd sign him for 3 years for a 10 million euro fee? Hell no. But a 3 month loan is about risk-free as you can get, and in a competition like this, winners like Vidic could come up huge.

I mean jeez, imagine Chiellini gets hurt, and Barzagli stays injury prone... Would you want to dress Bonucci and Ogbonna for a game vs. Real Madrid? I'd take Vidic 10x out of 10 because of his experience.
:howler: Bonucci is maturing rapidly and has been our best defender this season, whereas Oggy only needs consistent game time to regain his confidence. The talent is obviously there. I'd gladly have them starting over grandpa Vidic who only gives a fuck about his paycheck at this point.

I'm pretty certain after the dortmund game, plenty will agree with that.
:scared: What are you implying?

Ogbonna should leave and i think Rugani will stay at loan another season. i hope not but i think he will. i still would rather take Schar than Nastasic
:wth: WTF man?! Why do you want Oggy to leave. Rugani should come back next season. I firmly believe he is ready.

We could have 70 CBs and 25 midfielders (which we practically do) and people here would still talk about how we 'NEED' more

How about a fucking CAM or Wingers, something we don't have enough of to field 10 teams with.

:agree:

Individually, Real and Bayern don't have great defenders/CBs (with the exception of Benatia perhaps). Barca's CB's suck, and yet those are arguably the 3 favorites for the CL title every single year.

We aren't going to win games defending, and we have seen that in Europe, playing at pace and with creativity in the final 3'rd, you can go far.

The best defense is a strong offense.

Is everyone happy with CB right now though? Is Chiellini and Bonucci a good enough pair against the best in Europe?

Bonucci - wasnt a fan before this season. has been solid, has improved and has proved many wrong and can play centrally in a back 4.
Chiellini - declining....still good enough though
Ogbonna - again improved this season. As back up what more can you ask for?
Barzagli - let's see what he can offer now that he is back. Probably good enough for back up until the end of the season. Vidic is not needed IMO.
Caceres - yet to be tested as a CB in a back 4. Would like to see what he can offer.
Marrone - yeah nah i dont think so.

Jan market - CB is not required, who can we get that is going to displace bonucci or chiellini? If it is back up then we have that covered. Clearly attacking midfielder/playmaker/creative player for that final third is the most important purchase we need. Maybe find a sale for Giovinco so we get some cash for him. Maybe Montoya could be useful.

not that i would be happy if he goes or that i want him out badly but someone has to leave if we are getting Rugani/Scar :)D). we have no room for 5 CBs + Caceres. i would keep Ogbonna though rather than someone like Vidic.

Ogbonna is a good reserve CB. I have no idea what kind of calibre you wish to have as reserves. Ogbonna would probably start in all the other teams in Serie A.
