I believe that Coman would be better off in the long run like this, but he should get more minutes, then he is currently getting.

Anyways it seems that Juve are out shopping for a new Striker, and if we get rid of Gabbiadini, and Gio we will Bring in Zaza.. if that doesn't materialise, we will go after Kramaric.. and if we for some reason go for Falcao on loan instead, i believe it would be more for commercial looking he's only managed 3 app for man u

Coman is getting enough playing time so far. 7 games played (2 starts) in the league and will play more as season progresses. he will play much more at the end of the season when we eventually take a solid lead in the scudetto race. and remember Pogbas 1st season here. he didnt play as much either and he was a year older than Coman is now. he'll get his minutes

he said that he is fine with these cameo-performances and that he is hoping for 15-20 appearances: http://www.football-italia.net/58586/coman-happy-wait-juve
i was a little disappointed that he wasn´t subbed in yesterday. giovinco is a goner for sure so why even bother with him anymore?!

Not quite. Pogba had a rough time only at the beginning but later on he played quite often. At the end of the season he had 2250 minutes, which is like 500 minutes less than Asamoah/Licht who were our regular starters.

Coman is getting his chance slowly on the spoon and I'd like to see more of it personally. There were simply times when we have 3pts in the bag and enough space to let him play but we ignored it. Sure you may go with 'oh but Allegri knows better' but that holds no ground. When you ignore a GK and our injured players like Romulo then you have Coman at the bottom of minutes played on the pitch alongside with Giovinco. So I basically disagree, he should play more often.

i agree for the most part but it´s simply a fact that allegri knows more than we do ^^. quite often i read posts like "ah tevez looks tired, let´s bring on coman."
and most of the time that´s solely based on tevez playing badly :D. we actually know pretty much nothing about player fitness etc. while allegri can simply ask the player and/or get an assessment from the medical team (at least before and after games).
i would like to see more of coman but often other subs just seem more important:
one sub is pretty much reserved for llorente <-> morata or vice versa. big guy for big guy. i think that´s fine because both aren´t really on the top of their game and definately need their playing time.
the second sub is mostly used for one of the midfield four. one of them is always pretty much wasted after ~70min.
so most of the time there is only one sub left late in the game to cope with injuries, fatique, players on the verge of being sent off etc... not easy to squeeze coman in there.

BUT two things i don´t really get:
- why not bring on coman instead of giovinco yesterday?
- why not use the second sub i mentioned for coman for pirlo/pogba/vidal/marchisio/pereyra more often and move him behind the strikers? that´s supposed to be his best position, isn´t it?

yeah but Pogba got most of his performances in the 2nd half of the season that year. he started almost every game towards the end of the season, he only missed the last 2-3 when he got suspended. in the 1st half of the season he got 10 appearances (5 starts) in the league, while Coman now has 7 games (2 starts). i think he will get most of his appearances at the end of the season, from March onwards, as we will probably have a comfortable lead by then and we would rest players for the CL (if we are still in). i agree that he could play more, get subbed in a bit earlier at times, but if we look at Pogba, and if we know that Coman now is also a year younger than Pogba then, the time he got is good. not ideal, but also not bad.

agree. especially when we got a comfortable lead like yesterday. we could have easily brought on Coman early in the 2nd half. there was no risk of Cagliari taking a point from us so in situations like these we need to see Coman more instead of Padoin/Gio. other than that i think Allegri handles this situation with Coman quite well

Sure, but it's not like football coaches are superior human beings. It's not like a world class coach can't make a mistake (let alone Allegri... :D). Most of the time people here were like 'oh come on, just sub him out already!' and rightfully so. Sometimes we're seeing a horrible display by some players and yet they play for a full match. Hell, even Zach had comments like that and with a reason.

Sure, trainings do shape him quite a lot now but what Coman needs is a playing time. In order to become better he needs to be out there, just like Pogba was. Coman or not, this issue is well known for Italian clubs as they were almost never giving a shot to youth. Some might argue how they'd play if they were better, but I highly doubt that's a solid argument since... well, how many kids here at Juve did we shape into a fine player? Besides Pogba I'd say it's been ages since we've seen that, plus Pogba came here as a super talent. And it's not just us, both Milan and Inter tend to ignore players and majority of them is being classified as 'too young to play'. I remember when some coach, can't remember who it was, told how 23yo Menez was too young for Italy. I always ignored youth and for years and years it was only loans and co-ownerships (most of the time they even warm bench when they are loaned which is horrible). I was like :weee: when I saw Pogba playing and it felt so great to see us shaping a talented kid into a beast we're seeing today. I thought it'd be a new model and something what Italian clubs generally need to do. Now I'm just pissed when I see a kid like Coman warming our bench, since it reminds me of our not-so-old days. Hopefully we're just playing it slow and hopefully we're not planning to keep it like that forever.

I wouldn't judge any Giovinco based action at this point. I'm kinda sad it didn't work out for him so I'm guessing we're just giving him minutes as his pretty much last chance to either prove he's a useful sub or to try to ship him off but not as a free agent.

I meant to say WE always ignored youth. But for some reason I can't edit my post now... weird.

Yeah

Coaches know MUCH more than any of us do, that is obvious. But at the same time they make hundreds of little decisions in every single aspect of the game every day. They make plenty of decisions that can often turn out to be 'wrong'

football isn't an exact science, some armchair fan who knows enough about football but nowhere near as much as a manager can point out flaw in the managers decisions, even before it becomes a matter of hindsight. That's just how it is

Would they/we do 1/5th as good of a job in the same circumstances as a top manager? Fuck no.

Can they/we point out where managers have gone wrong, can we disagree with certain decisions and be proven correct? Yep, of course we can.

Basically, you don't have to be as talented/experienced/good as somebody in every way possible to disagree with any of their decisions.

Having said that, i'm happy enough with how much playing time Coman is getting. He's very talented by the looks of things, but he's not some 1 in a million beast. We should not be relying on such a young raw player to do anything important at this point.

In his early 20's, game time is key. But at this stage, he'll be benefiting massively from training in an elite environment under a successful coach with World Cup winners, league winners and top end International class players.
