Been a long time since I've properly watched Sneijder in action. Probably since he left Inter. I was a big fan. What's he like now as a player? Think he could rediscover his old form, ala Pirlo? And he's cup-tied, no?
To put it in AFL terms...Sneijder is like Daisy Thomas...great in 2010 when the Pies won the flag, but heavily declined these days.

But maybe a change of scenery could help him regain his form.

Marotta is getting better and better at hiding who he wants...

Yeah but daisy is only 27 and was coming off an injury. Sneijder is 30.

Marotta has no idea who he wants. He could be looking for a winger and end up with a center back. He eventually decides who he wants based on whichever team is willing to sell him his target on an initial loan basis, with an option to buy, with the fee payable in instalments over 5 years.

Well Pereyra's transfer is looking like a masterpiece compared to Iturbe right now. Roma got greedy and Marotta pulled out, rightly so.

It does get annoying getting beaten to transfers by Roma and Inter when we're in much better financial shape than either.
Ultimately though, those deals will harm Roma and Inter. Shaqiri at inter will probably be ok, but Iturbe was flat out dumb.
Roma get a huge sack of money for Benatia and reinvest in Iturbe. They might even have gotten cold cash for Benatia and are paying for Iturbe in installments. They can afford a €30m player (quality or not) because they sell their stars. That's what makes them different to us. A team that can't hold to their star players

Great news!!! Sneijders agent says Juve will have to pay €20m to take him this January. Marotta will never do that so we're probably off to better targets..

Sneijder would be a really stupid move. With all do respect. He is way past his prime and he can't play in the CL. why the hell would we go for him and pay his huge wage?

Same goes for rolando. Stupid move. Rather just wait for the summer and then maybe we could bring a decent attacking player (Isco, Firminho, De bruyne or any other attacking talent).

Agreed. Dumb in so many ways.. If Tevez is leaving this summer we're completely fuhked in attack. Bringing in someone desperately now who probably can't play CL would be stupid unless it's a unique chance. Otherwise we might want to keep the money and spend big in July. Identify a few attacking players and go for them. And bring Berardi back as well..

Tevez will not leave before 2016.
Rolando probably will be just a 6month loan.if he plays well, let him stay ffs for 4M.cheap.
Anyway Rugani + Berardi will be here in the summer.

I keep looking at it with the "glass is half full" mentality (©Hustini)

Wouldnt mind a 2mil sneijder. Woulnt be upset if it didnt go trough
That's how i feel about this deal as well.

I don't understand why folks keep using this punchline. Even if people didn't want Sneijder, it's still on Marotta for losing out on the signing.
It's called blind support really, no matter what the club does it is understandable, acceptable and totally supported.

Two reasons:

1- So that we can use him as an excuse for not being able to fund a proper transfer in the summer
2- So that we can use him as an excuse for sucking up a big part of our wage budget so that we avoid buying someone established.

Allegri: "SNEIJDER? FACCIAMOLO ARRIVARE, SE ARRIVA. COMPLETEREBBE IL CENTROCAMPO"
Google Translate: "Sneijder?Let's do him arrive, if he comes. That would complete the midfield"

I guess that something like :Let's see if he arrives,if so he would complete our midfield.
He definitely wants him here.
