correction: they still want renato augusto cause man utd all of a sudden think they are latin flair utd
there interest has dried off after they got Nani and Anderson. Before that the british press couldn't hail RA enough when he seemed so strongly linked with ManU but now it's a dif story and the focus has shifted to Anderson and Nani.

Plus, these two, especially Anderson, are virtually identical to RA's role on the field and at the same age too ... and investing close to 50 mil euros in the pair, speaks volumes about the intentions of SAF towards NanI and ANderson ...

where would Renato Augusto play with youngsters like Nani, CR (he is still 22/23 yo) and Anderson around - all players who are not any older than RA himself? And players like Giggs, Scholes and Park are there too to provide necessary cover and experience in midfield ... it simply makes no sense for ManU to go after another 15+ mil euro youngster, when they are more than well covered (in fact, there may well be redundancy in their midfield) by young players in attacking midfield.

Agreed they've got more than enough midfield players at the moment, and after Hargreaves,Nani and anderson costing them in the range of 70-75 million i doubt they'll be after Renato too...All they need is a striker now.

that doesn't change things much - Anderson, Nani and CR would still be around RA's age no matter what. The point is that even if RA spends the next 3 years on loan, ManU would still have 3 players just as young and with similar characteristics to RA's, players in whom they have invested a lot and obviously count on.

even now their mid seems redundant IMO but to add RA too ... that's something even chelski would deem superflous :D

well, that's why Anderson was brought in ... and the same goes for Giggs and Nani, while Park is a decent cover and still pretty young too - 25/26, I think.
I think Scholes and Giggs will be around for at least another couple of years with Nani and Anderson increasingly stepping into their shoes and taking over from the veterans, who would still be quite usefull especially if you consider SAF's references to the lack of experience as one of the main reasons his ManU team has become Milan's fans "other" favourite club :D

If Anderson had not been brought in, and at such a steep fee, then RA would have definitely been a good and probably necessary move but now it would be pure luxury to have him around.
The only way I see ManU go for RA is if Anderson turns to be a dud ... but after the Veron debacle, one might wonder how open SAF would be to getting another South American fantasista in the face of RA.

And with so many freigners already there, I would expect SAF to try to rebuild the teams British identity and if he's gonna add any more mids, I see young English players coming in, possibly from the club's youth system, which they often rely on and are proud of that.

The English teams are in a different league financially. they have signed television contract woth 1;5 billion pounds. At the moment only Barcelona and Real can compete with those numbers because they negotiated their own tv-deals. Chelsea can add to that the big wallet of Abramovic. It is no surprise that there are no less then 7 English teams in the top 20 of wealthiest teams around. So don't be surprised that Man. U can buy for 70 million without even blinking. They can afford it.

Chelsea Bid For Pato Accepted

Alexandre Pato could be on the way to Stamford Bridge after Independiente reportedly accept an offer from the West London club.

17 year-old Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato may be on World Under-20 Championship duty in Canada at the moment, but his next port of call could be Stamford Bridge.

The young Internacional striker has been subject to monitoring from Real Madrid, Inter, Milan and Chelsea, and each club has made an official approach for the player. However, it is understood that Chelsea's offer is superior.

With a bid in the region of 20 million euros (£9.9m), the Blues may yet have the best chance of landing the Parana-born youngster, who has already established himself as a regular with the Copa Libertadores holders.

Pato's agent, Gilmar Veloz, is looking to move his client on and is expected to travel to London with the player's father to strike a deal with the Chelsea hierarchy.

The agent stated that gaining a work permit could be problematic, but also emphasised that the options are still very much open for Pato, saying, "We have not decided whether he would go to Chelsea, Milan, Inter or Real Madrid."

This could potentially be the start of a bidding war, but at the moment Chelsea seem to be the favourites to land "The Duck." The player is still under 18 and cannot legally move, but all clubs concerned will seek to tie up his signature before his birthday on 2 September, at which point he can join his new teammates.
