i'm not so sure on how to transform underperforming defenders into world class ones, but you could get michael dawson and de la cuesta for a start,i reckon you could get em both for a combined fee of 5m or less;)

I'm in the first season with Juve, and just finished half of the season.

I'm in the first place, two points ahead of Milan. Rothen is injured for two months, and that has caused some problems, but not big ones, coz I moved Appiah to the right and Zambrotta to the left side, and they're doing great. Mexes is playing shite, dunno what's happening with him. I signed contracts with Kompany, Oddo, Hinkel, De Rossi, Henry and they're coming for free at the end of the season.

My team :

GKs : Buffon, De Sanctis

DFs: Birindelli, Mexes, Legrottaglie, Rodriguez, Montero, Chiellini, Iuliano, Athirson

MFs : Rothen, Appiah, Nedved, Olivera, Zambrotta, Tacchinardi, Maresca

FWs : Del Piero, Trezeguet, Miccoli, Di Vaio

First team :

Buffon

Birindelli - Rodriguez - Legrottaglie - Chiellini

Appiah

Zambrotta - Nedved - Rothen

Del Piero - Trezeguet

btw, I'm very suprised with Legrottaglie's form, he's been very impressive so far. Better than Mexes.

ok, so i updated my game. you know, downloadable updates, with all the transgfers done etc. good thing that i didnt yhave to pay for emerson, cannavaro etc.

now bad thing:

game sucks now. ratings after the match: 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 8 (scorer) 7 7 8 (another scorer). ffs, no one's getting more than 7 if they dont score. friggin annoying..

oh, and you dont get de rossi, henry, bonera, stankovic on free ones. which is only good. bad thing is that you canjt get a decent left winger with out going into debts. which is where i'm heading. 20+m transfer funds remaining, around 50m to pay in next 18 months. dont think its gona be cool

and tried football manager. cool.

there is no hard and fast rule to formulating training schedules. basically, this is how i go about doing them:

--create custom schedules for players in the following departments:defenders, goalies, midfielders, wingers, forwards and youngsters.

--for defenders, make sure you have lots of set pieces(both attacking and defending).

--get heading in too.

--since you're currently encountering a problem with the defence try identifying a common flaw amongst them.a lack of speed?do sprints(accel. is more important for defenders than pace.)

--mental training is very important if you're getting bad ratings.shadow play and tactics work well on saturdays and fridays, the days before a game.

--get a truckload of coaches.10 or more.

--attackers are about the opposite of defenders.prioritize pace above acceleration, and hone their stats according to their weaknesses and roles in the team.

--note:it's hard to get the overall rating up for your attackers for some reason.play around with things and don't tire them out too much.

--when training midfielders basically work on everything.training matches and 5 a sides greatly improve passing and communication,i've noticed.once when i was tuining my schedules i found more goals came with direct assists when i implemented more 5-a-side training sessions.

--youngsters are special.technique and fun are the main focus.

--add a few pig in the middle sessions so they don't get into a bad mood.it helps;you'll notice your coaches going "xxx is delighted with xxxx's dedication in training". or something like that.

--all in all, just try not to tire your players out and try different things each time.cross country is useless during the season and some sessions like technique can be used all year round.

good luck mate:)

Legro has always been very good for me and he's always outperformed Mexes too.

I finished my first season, and it has been a great and interesting season. I only secured italian serie a title just after the last round of the games, with milan in second place losing in their last game.
Signed Oddo, Kompany, Coloccini, Hinkel, Henry and De Rossi on free transfers.

I can't wait for the new season. :)

I didn't play Mexes for two months, and ever since he's been playing very well.

Rodriguez said that he cannot adopt to italian lifestyle and wants to leave. He's been playing like shite and my coaches say he is overrated. :)

btw, fli :

where did you download the updates?

I'm in second season and first in the Serie A with 8 pts ahead of Inter. I just sold Zambrotta to Milan for 45 mil € and got Reyes for only 12.5 mil € as his contract was not protected. Henry, Del Piero and Trezeguet are doing great and so are Gasbarroni and Rothen.

The Coloccini - Kompany partnership is working great though. Rodriguez said that he is now settled, but my coaches say he is not good enough to be in the first team, and his stats aren't nothing to be proud of either.
