These type of games lost out on the charm of the play, as much as they gained in options and possibilites, when they became 3D. Just wasn't the same anymore.
Exactly! This is one of the reasons why i could never get into Tekken. It was too 3Dish for my liking. The earlier non 3D versions of the games were best.

For me it's easy - Street Fighter2 on Supernintendo. Blanca and Ryu rules. Zangieff and Dalsim sucks.
    That my my combo too.

P.S. Mortal Kombat was never released on Nintendo, was it?

Ya I forgot to add KI onto my list. KI has the best combo system IMO, especially the ability to link combos and literally destroy your opponent.

Has anyone seen the previews for SF IV? It looks pretty good but a bit overdone on the animation side. I'm still gonna get it when its released

Street Fighter 2 (arcade) - Guile or Blanka
Mortal Combat trilogy (Playstation) - Noob Saibot or Motaro

These games are legendary, when the Tekken series appeared, i was too old to get excited and it was too slow for a fighting game, (IMO)

The latest fighting game i played was Tekken dark resurrection on the PSP,
its quite good, i thought the genre died some long time ago...

Almost all of us have played these games at one point or the other..Street Fighter,Tekken,Mortal Kombat,King Of Fighters. So which one's your favourite and why?
I'm a big fan of "Beat the Snot Out of Materazzi" [home edition].

    The reasons are self-evident.
