Then don't bother if it is such an expense. Its about 12 quid a month which equals about 50p a day- 50 p for 24 hour ' entertainment'?

But are you such a television addict that you need to go psycho over England cos of this?

if u dont pay the people called the police come along and pay u a visit :)

as i said its not the fact its expensive or not, its just another tax by the government, i mean who else pays to watch terestrial tv? - nobody!

and im not a tv addict, infact i rarely watch tv,as of a few months ago, the blind were given immunity from paying their tv licence, can u beleive it that the blind were being charged to be unable to watch their own tv, wheres the logic?

Blind people often "watch" tv. My grandpa does all the time. Most of them are only 95-98% blind, so they can make out basic shapes if they sit 3 cm away from it. If not, they just listen to the audio, as it's usually more interesting than the radio.

If you hate the country so much, then why are you here... Dont like it.. then fuck off!

Its not hard, pack your bags and goto where ever it is you think you will be most happy.

(though all the reasons you post later are the same everywhere)

Lame arse, bullshit excuse... Lets look at the facts... The uk is the second most expensive country in europe to live.. How can you not afford to live elsewhere yet you can afford to live here.. oh please

Not to mention with the current flights situation, you can fly to anywhere in europe for tax only... Can you not afford £8 ?

Well i spose it dont matter, cause if you cant afford £8, you'll be dead soon anyway...

yes but i hate it for its social and political order, i mean wots good about:

paying for a tv license to watch terestrial tv!
Sorry but you need to do some rersearch... Every country in europe charges for their national channels... Difference being that in the uk... you have a choice, everywhere else it comes straight out of your wages without you even knowing... And even then, you get adverts thrown in on top of the fact it comes out of your taxes....

having asylum seekers illegally living here and earning money being unemployed and taking it from my hard earned cash that i worked for

having those asylum seekers telling u that its their country
Cant speak for everywhere, but its exactly the same in france, germany, italy and spain... Its the way of todays open world...

But if as you put it ' the social and political order' of the country bothers you so much... Stop bleating and do something about it... Anyone can run for local election... Get elected and you can make your point in the commons everyday... Dont like it, do something about it or if your not willing, jus stop bitching about it

having england fans telling me that despite my italian herritage that i shud be supporting england
Again thats pretty expected, I get that in italy all the time...

Though it has to said, To not have any affection and too be full of hate for a country (and its team) that you live in is very sad...

150 quid to watch your own terestrial tv for a year is not expensive??? being expensive or not is not the point, its the fact that u have to pay to watch terestrial tv, not satellite which ur expected to pay unles u got pplive
Its £131.50 not £150... on top of that you can actually get a licence for £44.

Is it too expensive.. maybe, maybe not, Its less than is actually taken in most european countries, but anyway, you get 12 radio stations, 8 tv channels and a lot of exclusive broadband features... Doesnt seem bad value to me...

Not too mention there are many concessions available for various people...

if u dont pay the people called the police come along and pay u a visit :)
Ermmm... No, the tv licence people pay you a visit and hand you a fine...

Buts it quite simple, you dont want to pay then ditch your tv, then you dont have to pay... simple...

as i said its not the fact its expensive or not, its just another tax by the government, i mean who else pays to watch terestrial tv? - nobody!
No.. Everyone does, jus in a different way

and im not a tv addict, infact i rarely watch tv,as of a few months ago, the blind were given immunity from paying their tv licence, can u beleive it that the blind were being charged to be unable to watch their own tv, wheres the logic?
If you dont watch tv... then theres no problem anyway

As has been said, an awful lot of blind people watch tv... Its especially important for many, who are not confident to go out... for many listening to the tv is virtually their only contact to the outside world.

I've gone abroad as a student for months on end. And what about the thousands of legal (yes they are, nowadays) Polish immigrants who come to Western Europe (England included) with nothing more than a set of clothes and perhaps some lunch money?

The point is this: you can leave. And maybe you should.

If you consider money to be an issue than obviously you are very attached to whatever luxury you currently possess. You say you can't afford moving abroad when it fact the truth is that you can afford moving abroad, but you might not be able to immediately afford the same luxuries you currently enjoy. And if your current life is good enough for you to think twice about leaving, maybe the nation that allows you to live said life isn't as bad as you think.

Thing is for me i live rather plush & the standard of living in South Africa is world class. If things were tough & uncomfortable i think i would have moved ages ago.

There are enough foreigners here that have settled in nicely due to the exchange with the Euro/Rand.

Well living standards in this country are among the highest in the world. The point is not the average living standard, it's which side of it you're on.

Indeed. That being said if you really want to move it is possible, cutting down on small things makes the world of difference for a finacial aspect.

Oh I've moved up a good bit over the past few years (so have my parents for that matter) and I plan on getting much higher.

Still, it's an eventful struggle :D
