Why is my situation different? you all have jobs no?
Do the same job you are doing in the UK here in India and show me how you can travel to Europe to watch Juve (just an example)
Different people live in different circumstances. I don't really know why I'm trying to explain here, because surely you can't be that simple minded.

My cost of living would be 10x less in India.

What?

Come on Nick, you can't be serious.
I'm deadly serious, if people who've been supporting a club for close to 10 years and not ventured to go and watch them then I see no excuse to be had. Can people not save for 5 years to be able to afford it? yes they can but they choose to spend there money on other things they want more than to see Juventus.

I've seen both Chelsea and Real Madrid play live, does that mean I am a bigger fan of them than Juventus?

What if I travel to turin and watch Juventus play. I'm alot further away than you are, Nick so does that mean since I traveled five times the distance I would be five times the fan you are?

Feel as you want when you've bothered to make the trip.

With that i can sorta agree.

So there's no excuse money wise is there ;)
The thing you're missing is that not everyone here has your same job, some of the people here work at call centers and don't make as much money as you (i'm taking a wild guess here).

Also you're an EU citizen which pretty much means you won't have any trouble paper wise to enter Italy, and believe me getting a Visa from what i heard is pretty damn difficult, specially if you live in the "third world".

Moreover a trip to Italy from the other side of the globe would cost a lot more than a trip from England.

It's not really as simple as you think it is.

Nick,

You seem to have no idea whatsoever how much people make in India, saying that the cost of living is more in Britain means absolutely nothing in this argument, because wages in Britain proportionate to the cost of living are still at least 5 times higher than wages in India proportionate to the cost of living there.

Do you know the cost of living in England Fred?

I make 20k a year at the moment. I probably see 12k of that in my account. 8k in tax that I have no control over. 40% of my wage I have no access to.

Ya, the visa thing that Gabriel touched on. For someone like me, its extremely difficult to get a visa to Western European countries, just in case you haven't noticed, Libya is on about every blacklist there is right now. Its extremely difficult for a Libyan citizen to get a visa in a Western European country, unless its for study or work.

You're making it sound a lot simpler than it actually is, and you've demonstrated some absolutely shocking ignorance of how things work in the other side of the globe.

How can you sorta agree?

Not everyone makes the same amount of money. Some make minimum wage which is certainly a lot less in India, Colombia and Trinidad than it is in England. Some people pay rent/ mortgage, phone, water, electricity bill, have children, groceries, car expenses and school. How many of that do you have? A lot of people have nothing left over at the end of the month. Are they too poor to be worthy of being a Juve fan? Not to mention traveling from the Caribbean, S. America or Asia is a lot more difficult and costly than from England.

Now compare that to how much the average worker in India gets.

I'll leave it as this.

People who don't go and watch their teams live will always make excuses where as people who do go to watch their teams live will never understand them.

Bothered? You make it sound like flying across the globe is just something I am putting off because I'm lazy...

What is it about going to the game that is so great anyway? Is it about the money you spend on the ticket contributing to the club or does your ass have to physically be in a seat there?
