This is the definition of a good guy, not me!

OK, you asked ;) (BTW, I guess I'm in the 1%, then)

Lou's Philosophy of Life.

Life gives you only 2 choices when dealing with people: you can look for the good in people and find it every time; or you can look for the bad in people and find it every time.

I choose option 1 (and am a lot happier because of it--trust me). :)

he may does, but only an idiot can step over such a person,or take advantage of him.
Correction: only the intelligent and deeply evil people can take advantage of a nice guy like Lou and fact of the matter is that there are A LOT of evil bastards out there.

Don't you get screwed over A LOT tho?

Sure....but I would just the same if I chose option 2. Disliking people doesn't protect you from being hurt (actually, I would argue the opposite, but we'll let that go for now).

Put it to you this way (not a religious thought per se, OK? ).

Look at say, Saddam....rolling in money. Surrounded by a** kissers. Party going on all the time. Hates everybody. Unhappiest SOB around.

Mother Teresa...not a penny to her name. Surrounded by the dead and the dying--the misnamed "refuse" of life. Loved everybody. Always had a smile on her face.

I could go on :)

good for you tifoso.
that's a great philosophy.
i wish more ppl could think that way.

But I wouldn't be Dutch if I didn't invent a middle-road where the American merely passed me two extremes ;)

Hence: I support the theory that helping others helps yourself and that's why I do volunteer work BUT evil bastards get what they deserve: I destroy people like that and serve them on a silver platter.

It's when you "don't feel like it" the most, that you have to reach out to the other person. It's almost like....errrr....Whoever...wired us that way: it's when we take the biggest leap...liking, say, the truly unlikable (I am not speaking of anyone here, OK?), that we are rewarded with the biggest rewards and the deepest sense of satisfaction.

I've been here over a month. Honestly can't say I've met anyone here I didn't like (well, except that dumb a** who posted the baby pic--he was a prick).
