I'd go with the Milan style, no question.

Buffon

Oddo - Nesta - Cannavaro - Zambrotta

Gattuso - Pirlo - Perrotta

Cassano - Del Piero

Vieri
Keep dreaming!

Thats not happening. Id prefer a more conventional 4-4-2 approach with Dp and Vieri leading the attack.

how about this?

----------------Buffon

Panucci--Cannavaro--Nesta--Zambrotta

--------------------Gattuso
-------------Pirlo
Zanetti*--------------------Del Piero

------------Cassano
---------------------Vieri-----------

it's more or less a 4-4-2 formation...
U also give DP freedom to move central in the field.
It will be something like the game against Wales in Italy!

* = or Fiore/Camo for better offence!

------------------------ Gigi
-------------- canna---------- nesta --------- Ferrari (materazi)

------ oddo----------------------------------------------------------- zamby

---------------------gatusso - pirlo------ perrota ( zanetti)

--------------------------- Vieiry------------ cassano

and we can change it during the game
perrota and cassano out ,,, di vaio and del piero in

or this one : typical 4-4-2

-------------------------- gigi
oddo -------- canna------ nesta ----------- favalli

I'd go with the 4-3-1-2 in the start,if it won't work good, then make double change at the HT for the 4-4-2.

start:

------------------Buffon----------------

---Oddo----Nesta-----Canna-----Zambro-------

-------Gattuso----Pirlo-------Zanetti-------------

--------------------Dp-----------------------------

----------Vieri-----------Cassano--------------

if proves wrong:

Zanetti----->Favalli
Vieri/Cassano--->Fiore

--------------------Buffon---------------------

----Oddo-------Nesta-------Canna--------Favalli--------

---Zambro------Gattuso----Pirlo-----Fiore-----------

---------------Dp---------Vieri/Cassano--------------

and the 3rd sub can be DV.

IMO it is the best solutions.
Opinions?Maybe you think it is better to start 4-4-2 and then switch it?

FORZA AZZURI!!!!:fero:

Sweden are going to be the surprise of this tournament... Like the look of Denmark as well, they're playing very nice football... Italy might be done for.

a Z1010??? what do we have a competition "predict the next formation and starting line up and win a Z1010" :D ;)

I have a NEC E616 now and I've one thing to say about 3G, and that is: pretty much waste of money!!!

Italy must play 4-4-2
-----------------------------Buffon-------------------------------------

Oddo-------Nesta-------------------Cannavaro------Favalli------

Fiore--------Gattuso---------------Pirlo------------Zambrotta----

---------------------Vieri-------------Del Piero-----------------------

Without Totti, it's useless to play with two central attacking midfielders. Zambrotta needs to play on the midfield, like he ALWAYS should....

Trap played this in practice:

Buffon
Panucci-Nesta-Cannavaro-Zambrotta
Gattuso-Pirlo-Zanetti
Cassano
Vieri-Del Piero
This is what I would go with........

HOPEFULLY, Trap plays this lineup

Trap has a tough decision to make imo. The Swedes love to utilize the wings so the 4-4-2 would be good for shutting that aspect of their play down, but limiting them isn't the priority. We need to score, and we're more likely to do that with Cassano, Del Piero AND Vieri on the pitch.

Trap opts for Pirlo
Thursday 17 June, 2004

Andrea Pirlo is set to start for Italy against Sweden on Friday following the suspension of Francesco Totti.

Indications from today’s training session suggested that the Azzurri will shelve their 4-2-3-1 formation in favour of a 4-3-1-2.

The defence should remain unchanged with Buffon in goal, guarded by Panucci, Nesta, Cannavaro and Zambrotta.

Milan’s Pirlo may be used as a deep playmaker, flanked by Cristiano Zanetti on the left and Gennaro Gattuso on the right.

Antonio Cassano, who replaces Totti, will play behind Christian Vieri and Alex Del Piero – the latter being used as a second striker rather than a left winger.

The Azzurri really need to win tomorrow night after only drawing 0-0 with Denmark in their first match. Sweden beat Bulgaria 5-0.

At least you like Nordic countries... :thumb: I'm sure that Trap will fail...
