What became of Football? (1 Viewer)

Ciao Juventus fans, Italy, Liverpool fans and the world.

I am a very passionate Liverpool fan before we get things started.

I am just writing in regards to the cowardness of football today. This is not pointed at Juventus fans or anything like that, but just the footbaling world general.

I mean, why cannot a side like Liverpool (for example only) not wear their club colours and gear when travelling away to watch their side play in Turin without possibly being beaten up. And vice versa.

This is evident all over the world, River and Boca, Inter and Ac, Lazio and Roma etc.

Whilst I think its important to be passionate about supporting your side, i think there is a certain line which should not be crossed in terms of beating opposition fans for who they support, even if it is your arch rivals.

Football should be about bringing the people of the world together and uniting them as ONE. Football has the ability to bring everyone in the world together. Its the WORLD GAME.

Its just not appropriate to have fans killing other fans for who they support.

For most of us Football is life. A RIGHT. We should be able to take pride in not only who we are as people, but who we support also, without fearing death or bashings.

Lets hope nothing happens in Turin this week, as a Liverpool fan speaking, and lets unite as fans and give football the true value it deserves.

Thanks.

You'll Never Walk Alone.

I disagree about football being uniting everyone in a world game. In creating the playing field for the sport we all support, that's certainly true. But football is arguably the most passionate way that nations and cities can get out their aggressions against each other without killing each other.

Unfortunately, there are some fans -- completely clueless on the concept -- who think that killing each other should be included. There are those who use the colors of sport like the colors of some inner city, drug dealing street gang.

Just so you know where I stand as a die hard juventino, I'm all for shaming both the Juve and Pool fans who can't get beyond the violence of the past.

Thanks Swag for a good reply.
I certainly agree with you in football is a good way in letting your agressions out without killing each other, but that should also include not beating (physically) each other too!

During the match fans should be passionate as all hell, but to a certain extent. That is not to taunt oppisition fans, but rarther rejoice their club. EG Liverpool fans sing Youll Never Walk Alone, and Juventus have their own clubs songs.

At the end of the day, football should not tolerate violence on or off the pitch. Fans should be able to celebrate football after the final whistle together, differences aside.

That is if we are all humane and men enough to do so.

Who the fvck SUPPORTS a sport ffs. It should be entertainment, nothing more. Anyone who takes it as more than just entertainment, anyone who judges someone personally over a football team, or anyone who has insulted/beaten/whatever someone over a football team is the scum of the earth.

But thats just my opinion :D

Well, for me sport is almost everything. Without sports I would be a living zombie because I love them so much and it would be incredibly boring without them.

I do not agree with killing over a sport, though, because when that happens sport becomes irrelevant. I am guilty of insulting others having to do with sport, and that is basically the rivalry, passion, and testosterone in me.

We all give alot of C*** to the opposition fans, but launching scathing attacks on their background and other things like so, should not be said.

Millwall fans are a absolute disgrace. At a recent match between Millwall and Liverpool the Millwall fans started taunting the Liverpool fans about Hillsborough Disaster in which 96 people died.

As Juventus fans, that is like Liverpool fans taunting you about the 38 Italians plus 1 Belgium that died in Heysel. I hope, as a Liverpool fan, that never has occured and never will.

Especially when supporters make racist chants even when their own side have the likes of Andrade and Dabo.

I think this is only half-true, look at this site, we have europeans, americans, africans, asians...we have people from many different religions/cultures yet we all manage to get along okay...of course there are the odd 1 or 2 arguments here, but nothing serious.
