After four weeks of vacation I told my wife that I miss work. The past week was intense vacationing and yesterday back to work.

It seems that I don't miss it quite that much though. Waiting for a new vacay now.

I was gone 5 and half weeks from work. I foolishly told my work friends and family I missed work.


Took my first week back to remember why that notion was idiotic lol.


I was just missing some of my co workers it seems. Social habits. Not the work itself.

I have relatives in US, and they usually say their vacay is 2 weeks. That's crazy to me.

They shocked when I say ours is 4-6 weeks (4 weeks is standard, 5-6 weeks for some management peeps in some companies).

I don't hate what I do now, honestly I have it very good compared to where I was for sure. But there just isn't much that I'd like to have to do for 40 hours a week for x amount of years straight.

In the US it is so rare and precious, sometimes it feels like you’re appealing the Supreme Court to get a specific week off.

We close down shop for 3 weeks in the summer here. Last 3 weeks of july we only have minimal staff to keep our platforms running. 250 people take vacation at the same time.

We close down shop for 3 weeks in the summer here. Last 3 weeks of july we only have minimal staff to keep our platforms running. 250 people take vacation at the same time.

My company offers 4 weeks of vacation plus the week between Xmas and New Years. That’s probably pretty rare in the US.

I definitely do not miss working year-end closes when I was in finance back in the day. Just a miserable thing, working around New Years.
