I didn't imply that at all. I merely said there are very real safety concerns for foreign tourists in India. I think it would be insane to deny that.

In certain regions, yes. But I like to do roadtrips to remote places. Somehow India does not strike me as the safest country to do so.

Those places are as safe as it could be. I bet there are even more dangerous places in US then in india or any other place in asia.

Though you have to apply the same common sense rule there as in US where you go and at what time and you'll be ok. I never been to US mind you, but even reading some of the discussions here about Baltimores of US and some of the neighberhoods shows you that US can be a dangerous place too.
