Just banned a lurker who is trying to sell some vBulletin forum product for rating players, etc.

I would have left him stick around, even if he didn't post, if he wasn't so annoying with his PM spam. Not 24 hours passed since his introductory PM, and he was already PMing me again saying "where the #%$ are you? why aren't you responding to me?"

Deck sandwich.

So, some things that you hear back in the day, you're not quite sure if they are true or not. So when the opportunity arises out of the blue, you take the time to revisit it.

Some of you may remember Billy Squier back in the late 709's early 80's, also known as the most sampled artist in Hip Hop.

The guy had hit after hit for a good 4 year run, and then as some say, it came crashing down because of a music video.

That video was for Rock me Tonite.

I didn't believe that a single music video could kill a career, as he himself had stated, but it is on VH1 Classic right now, and I am watching it.

Yeah.

Not even Michael Jackson would have been able to survive that. What in the fucking fuck was he thinking.

 That is one gloriously horrible video. Cheaply made and homoerotic in a very uncool way even for the pastel t-shirts and frizzy hair of the 1980s.

I don't know if it necessarily killed his career as much as the bubble-gumming of his music did.

That said, I have a running joke with my wife for the past 15 years. I tell her that every time we go back to Chicago and visit my folks, Billy Squier will be on the radio. It's one of the more bizarre radio obsessions I've found anywhere: Chicago and old Billy Squier.

Sure, radio formats are meant for people your and my age now, as we're the only dorks who might listen to radio anymore. And you can understand acts like AC/DC or Led Zeppelin or the Stones or Van Halen. But Billy Squier? The guy isn't even from Chicago (Massachusetts).

Sure enough, every time we've been back to Chicago without fail -- which is about 15 times over the past 15 years (and just last week) -- I've never lost that bet. Something weird about Chicago radio: they play Billy Squier just about every day as if it were still 1981.
