Meanwhile, ever since the Best Places Rated Almanac rated Pittsburgh, PA as #1 in the US two years in a row -- and then I discovered the publisher of the almanac is based in Pittsburgh, PA -- I've tended to see these sort of "livable" surveys as chamber of commerce marketing efforts and beyond dubious at best.

Naw. Just that the places who tend to cite these random, unscientific "livable index" surveys are the very places who need the surveys to justify why they live there. :stuckup:
That survey was created by a group in London and London isn't even in the top 10.

Sounds like scientific dogma to me. :lol:

Look, I find the island of São Jorge in the Açores more livable than most of those listed cities, and it doesn't even exist on those lists. It's all personal taste, like saying bock is better than pilsner.
