Everybody's parents are imperfect, just as you aren't. It's way too much baggage to not forgive them for being mere mortals who tried their best in what little ways they know how. Even if they piss you off in the process.

I will forgive her, no big deal. I just exploded because I never really told her how I felt. The only difference now is that I won't come back home no matter how much she begs me to come back and I know she will.

So you have a mother who actually cares about you, who wants the best for you, and who worries that you'll make the wrong kind of mistakes and wants to help you to avoid making the serious ones.

What a terrible curse indeed.

Would be much better to have one of those moms who regrets not aborting you in the highway rest stop -- who really wishes you would just disappear from her life so she can go back to being selfishly focused on her own needs and wants.

Yeah, I mean I feel similarly about my dad (I honestly don't really like him as a person), but he's still my dad in the end & I still have to treat him with respect.

No, you don't. Would you write the same if has was a rapist?
But he's not, I just think he's a douche. I'm talking about in the context of this conversation, when you don't necessarily get along with your parent but that's basically the extent of it. Of course if one of your parents was a rapist or a murderer, or if you were abused by a parent, the same rules don't necessarily apply.

Family or not; you should not feel obligated to be with your family, if you don't like them. You can be respectful and help them when in need (if they took proper care of you).

And she finally called me  I went to see her and apologized. She knows I didn't mean it and admitted she was to blame.

Asked me to come back but I respectfully refused and told her I can't live under her rules.

I'm happy this way, I love hitting the bong while taking a dump.
