Greg! Where have u been? You should never ever let marotta spoil your mood and make u go away from the forum.
Hey guys! :dule:

Yeah, I missed you guys. :touched:

A few factors. A week ago my home Internet router died and had to get a replacement. Then I went on a brief vacation with the missuhs down towards Santa Barbara. Good old Sebi (if you recall Señor Tiara himself from these forums -- aka 3pac) gave me a good tip on a Mexican taco joint that served all the good stuff (photo of menu below).

Then there's the ol' job searching thing. A lot of follow-up interviews yesterday with a company, and I hope to hear positive things back soon (I expect to at least). They're actually a place I would consider working at, which has been fewer and further between lately. Too many greedy and newbie start-up companies who think they're going to be the next Google and look for "rockstar engineers". Like I want to work at a company of clueless newbies who think they want to hire coworkers who smash furniture and try to take all the credit for the work of others... :pado:

How are you all? Anything I missed on the forums much this past week? I've briefly been able to check in over the past week, but not by much.

What's cool about that place is that menu is everything they do. No chimichangas. No burritos. No quesadillas. No fajitas. Just tacos of various ground up animal parts.

Puts that gringo crap they sell to the tourists out of the back of food trucks to shame...

Much better to get places with a narrow focus, doing things well.

Can't be done with jack of all trades, master of none type places.

Billy noted that the lengua is tasty. It's very tender. I didn't have the stomach to eat eyeball tacos, however.

Byrone -- you of all people, living in the land of African cafés where some bars serve up a sheep's head, should not feel foreign to the concept. :D

That sounds like a huge ordeal, i didn't know you were job hunting. Not happy at the current place of employment? You were definitely missed & i'll send you a pm about the drama that unfolded with BD.:D
I basically bailed out. The main investor got shaky with their commitments and I saw all sorts of projects I'd be on get cancelled. I sensed doom was coming, and it would only be a matter of time before my expensive head was on the block, so I jumped ship. This was back in May.

Then a week ago today my former company announced laying off 40% of their staff. So I can't say I didn't see it coming.

Word? When did you get a new job? I thought it was your lady that kept you so busy.
I'm still looking right now. At my level, there are fewer positions and the lead time is much, much longer because they're looking for cultural fit, having you meet everyone in the company including the janitor, etc.

Much better to get places with a narrow focus, doing things well.

Can't be done with jack of all trades, master of none type places.
I completely agree. Places that do basically one thing and do it well are often exceptional at it.
