I don't make up such stuff though. I tend to tell them exactly how the chemicals they are working with can harm them, just to make sure they are safe in the lab. Safety is our main priority, then comes in learning techniques. The problem is, many students don't want to be in the lab for 3-4 straight hours, and want to finish the experiment asap, which tend to bring a lot of bad habits, such as not being careful, touching chemical, and even smelling them, which is a big NO. I once had a student adding concentrated bromine to her reaction flask, and she was using here bare hands to clean some bromine droplets off the flask. Another student broke a thermometer but didn't tell me, so she had mercury balls in her fume hood, she was touching them and thinking it is fun, I walk by and she is like, this is fun, I look at the fume hood, WHAT THE HELL

u have some bad students. Thank god you walked by that girl , so slow. Should have failed her just for that lol. Worst I've done is spilled a chemical and even then I called the prof, but I was on a drug induced stupor that day and she made me sit in the corner while I watched my friend do the lab

I've never done chemistry labs, but we used to have to do physics labs. I was almost always hungover/drunk in them because they were first thing in the morning and it was first year in college.

Not that big, probably 2 feet long (tentacles included). It was a cool shiny blue color though.

I was more worried about her safety than how much she should get on the lab.
Spilling is a ritual, atleast 4-5 student would spill chemicals each session, got used to it. It is a ritual

Physics labs are boring, and I got some students drunk on St Pattys day for the chem labs, I didn't allow them to do it, and kicked them out of the lab

yeah, just some angry mexicans that wouldnt explain shit to me. I understand how to wash my clothes, but i dont under the logistics of a laundromat...i've always used my machine at home or in my flats at uni.
