Just had an exam about "Justice, Ethics and Power". As you would assume the average law student really sucks at this course. I got to say, I love it. Part of the course is about good old Nicolò Macchiavelli, so I was hoping for a question about him. I ended up discussing Macchiavelli and his take on the virtue of justice in 16th century Firenze and how we simply couldn't tell what he really meant in his works: was it sarcasm because he was banished, was it really a manual.. what about his work as a secretary of the Signoria.. man, all exams should be like this.
The part where I said a line of Macchiavelli in Italian and wanted to offer a translation was great too. He completely dismissed me: "come on now, you really think I don't speak Italian?".
