Just watched the last 15 of the new HBO show called Treme. It's produced and written by the crew that did The Wire. The 15 minutes I saw were nuts, some old dude and a young guy beat the shit out of each other in a dark hallway for practically no reason.

The younger guy stole the older guys tools not to mention he was caught stealing so it was a bit about New Orleans pride I guess.

The show is kinda hard to handle. There's a lot of culture to absorb that I think most people outside Louisiana aren't aware of.

Probably. Louisiana is a very interesting state. I had the worst Southern accent when I was little thanks to Louisiana.

If by "interesting" you mean abstract poverty and one of the worst school systems in the nation, then yeah -- they're interesting alright.

But seriously -- one thing cool about Weezieana is that big, fat guys think it's macho to cook for everybody. And they're damn good at it.

I was speaking more along the lines of the culture, French common law system, Cajuns, bonfire Christmas eve waiting for Papa Noel, etc.

You could name really any of the Gulf Coast states, Southern stats, or Midwest and come across poverty and a bad school system (thanks W). Or you could look a California for an example of a bankrupt state that hates gays. Or look at West Virginia and see pretty much the same thing except we hate ourselves.

All states have their faults, but they also have redeeming qualities.
