In Ireland, tomorrow is easter Sunday, I'm pretty sure it's the same worldwide. Personally, I don't have an Easter, just eat choclate and make sure to have steak and beer on Good Friday.

A friend of mine is a Greek citizen who moved to San Francisco when he was 2 and has lived here ever since. Given his tendency to half-jokingly remind us that the Greeks invented everything, he always refers to Christian Easter as "Pagan Easter". I have always wanted to go to russia. I want to see the one of the worlds greatest countries going into its dying breaths and going to see one of the new big countries before it gets raped by western tourism. I went to bulgaria three years ago to see it before it got ruined, and i timed it just right!

Moscow I think already got raped by western tourism. Maybe not like cities on western Europe but they're getting there. The gap between the wealthy and poor is huge there. You see the wealthy paying up to 1000$ a meal in the best restaurants and buying European and American brands which prices are inflated to 20% or more of their real value and they just don't care. And then you go to the subway or to the Kremlin or to flea markets and see people begging you for any spare change you have.

This appears to be a case of misunderstanding. I didnt say russia had been raped by western tourism. Russia is a dying country, aids ridden, alcohol fueled etc. I want to see it before shit hits the fan. I want to see china before it becomes the next big tourist destination and to see it before it has become the world dominant economy.

Thats one of the main reasons i want to get the trans siberian railway, i would rather see the beautiful russian countryside than be stuck in the major cities all the time.
