Its up to you, i dont know what the debate was about. But i do know that Somalia isnt an arabic nation state. it isnt pact of the Arabic Peninsula or the Gulf and has no historic roots in arabic culture. Just because some arabs live there doesnt make it an arab country. Britain has more people of an arabic descent living in it and i dont imagine you would be claiming it. The arab world stops moving westward at the Suez Canal and at instanbul. And thats according to Samuel Huntingdon, Huw Williams, Dr Jamie Vaughn, Dr Gerrard Hughes.....i could list most poitical historians if you want.

Somalia is part of the Arabian peninsula, otherwise why would the country be part of the Arabian forum which is like the E.U but for the Arabs.(with many differences between the two obviously). And you're wrong, there's much history between Somalia and the rest of the Arab world add to that the same main relegion which is Islam and how influential that is for having similar culture.
As for your Britain example, Britain doesn't have Arabic as a second does it? Its not part of the Arab league now is it? It doesn't have Islam as a main relegion does it? It doesn't have borders with other Arab countries does it?

As for the geographical differences, that's really debatable. the European Union exists despite the fact that all their countries have different languages and probably different religion(or understandings of the same religion at least) while the only difference we've is a geographical one, I can so live with that since we're in the 21 century these days

Now back on topic, There is no such thing as arabism nor africanism. The Arabian Union is only there to discuss political and economical problems the Arab countries suffer from and look out for a way to support those countries in the way all the arab countries agree on. While the African Union cares about other political issues that African countries suffer from and find a way to support them.
In other words, both the African and the Arabian union work for the sake of the Arabian African country and two hands are better than one for sure, so I can't see how they are both contradicting to you. And with so many countries being part of those two unions simultaneously they must have been benefiting from it else they won't still be there in both of them.
