Worse were earlier days like the dot-com bomb days when I would walk into the office of an acquisition across the Bay, say "hi", then summarily tell 15 mostly strangers that they're fired. That sucked big time.
Of course, my all-time best firing story involves 9/11, which I'll save for another post...
