Im gonna do mine at Berkeley next year, why dont you join me?Thats if they give you entry into the country.:D
Now you're talking my 'hood (and my alma mater)... :D

The city of Berkeley is a left wing nuthouse full of drug addicts, homeless people and liberals. In the 1980's Ronald Reagan cut government spending on mental health-care and in doing so ended up releasing vast numbers of people who lived in group homes and psychiatric hospitals on to the general public.
100% true. Most major American cities are still living with this Reagan legacy today.

To make a long story short the population of Berkeley doubled shortly after. Berkeley is now full of homeless people most with mental or drug problems but I would say 99% of them are completely harmless. There are some sketchy people who hang out around campus usually they are not from the neighborhood. It is a very safe city during the day but at night there are some very sketchy youths who come from close by areas such as Oakland and Richmond and try to get in to CAL parties. Two of my friends there have been jumped before and I have heard of robberies at gun or knife point but they are rare. The campus is in a nice part of Berkeley and unlike some colleges the buildings and houses are completely integrated into the city. Overall it is a really cool area to hang out and CAL football games create a great atmosphere. Berkeley is a safe city but like all cities it helps to know the areas to avoid during late night hours.
I pretty much concur. Of course, I used to live in a dangerous part of town in southwest Berkeley around the Oakland border at the intersection of San Pablo and Alcatraz (how cool was that to have an Alcatraz Ave. street address? :D ).

That neighborhood is quite removed from campus, comes pretty cheap, but also attracts "Orca" (the anti-drug Berkeley police bus), crazed left-wing bomber types, and a lot of lower-middle-class blacks who keep stellar care of their homes. People in the hood would come up to me and give me a hard time, figuring I'm lost. But quickly they would start laughing and blow their "hard street thug" cover... generally good people.

But at night, the loonies would come out. The liquor/convenience store down the block had shots fired every other Friday night. But oddly, it wasn't that unsafe -- because the people shooting knew who they were shooting at. And unlike the random gunfire in some L.A. neighborhoods, at least the thugs were good shots and aimed well at the right targets. :shifty:

The city and college are very diverse with people of all religions, ethnicities, and races mixing so it is easy to find people who you can feel comfortable with. There are also vastly different groups of people so depending upon what you are into sports, computer games, studying, drugs, parties whatever you can find people who are like you
Berkeley tries to pride itself on this fact. The irony is that it was no where near as integrated and diverse as the big public uni I went to near downtown Chicago, if you could believe that.

Never heard of it, but it looks delicious :lick:

If you already have a tomato sauce ready and you're alone it can be done fast.

You need:

- flour
- potatoes(2 normal size for one person)
- salt
- milk if you put too much flour
- tomato sauce

boil some potatoes
when ready mash them up
add them to some flour
mix em up till the dough looks good and ready to roll
if they don't mix nice enough then add some milk. I use 2%.
grab a nice piece of dough, roll it, cut them up and make the lines(texture) with your index finger with a fork or this if you have one.
if they are too soft I put them in the freezer 10min to get harder
boil some water, add some salt to the water and they'll be ready when they all come up on top.
add the sauce and some Parmesan cheese and your set.
