The report I read said one train went into the back of the other, rather than head on.

These things are almost always a fuck up with the points or a driver ignoring a signal.

I'm watching the footage on MSNBC and one train is on top of the other. Apparently they were traveling opposite directions, which is why I said "head on" perhaps "on coming" is a better word choice? Anyway I don't think I've seen one train sitting on top of another. It makes for a rather interesting disaster.
