I did not say that he should muster up some amazing plan right away, but I wanted to know if he hinted to what he'd do to fight off this depression.

Whether it's BS on my part or not, Obama has had a couple months to think of his policies, along with picking some dodgy individuals for positions.
Fighting off the depression I fear is something that may prove impossible. The most practical thing to do now would be to ameliorate its effects...

I guess I'm a lunatic. Finally the guy I voted for won and I'm "brainwashed and following my leaders blindly" because I hope he actually does well? Strange world we live in.
It's OK to be happy with having your candidate win, but what I'm talking about is the constant Messiah-like praise they receive as soon as they get in. I believe we should wait to see what cards we're dealt before handing out praise.

But if people are happy for the history of electing an African American, then that is fine.

Bobby Byrd too. :faq2:
Weird that it happened during the excitement today.

I also think it's also too late. We just have to let the economy run its course, allow the problem to fix itself, instead of prolonging the misery or maybe even exacerbating the problems. We're trying to borrow and spend our way out of a problem that was caused by too much borrowing and spending, akin to fighting a fire with gasoline.

FINALLY! Someone who also knows that this Keynesian thing is what it is: bullshit!

Agreed. I don't like Keynesian economics.

When I started studying economics I didn't really understand which version suited similar situations better, but living through this crisis it's obvious what the problems have been.

Here are other problems we will probably face:

Collapse of commercial real estate, something that is more leveraged than sub prime housing.

The bubble of long term treasury bonds that have lost momentum, which is why I'm shorting long ETF's of 30 year notes.

More job losses and probably downside in the stock market.

Nationalization of banks.

Perhaps an energy crisis due to short term deflation.

Then the grand daddy of them all: hyperinflation due to money being printed recklessly. A hyperinflationary depression.

Hopefully this is all wrong though.

Sure no one deserves the Messiah-like praise, nor should they receive that much pressure. I think the biggest reason the Inauguration was so blown up is the fact that Obama is a black man. And that's a good thing in my book.:pint:

Byrd is in his 90s. He finally go kicked off the Appropriations Committee recently, mostly due to the fact that the guy is going to die in office. My aunt is on call to do the story when he kicks it. It's kind of funny.:D

That's already starting to happen here.

It's been a long haul. Lots of solid coal discussion.

Update: I fixed the TV and now get multiple channels.
How so?
