That's what I would do.

Explain that continuity is true for many of the "developed" nations, while those that are "3rd world" tend to drift further and further away toward changing the way they do things to try to keep up.

I had intended to go along those lines but then it changed when planning.I'm kind of Focusing on Social,Economic and Political change with an ideaology/historical frame, using empyrical evidence such as colonialisation and the growth of Russia,China,Inda and the Eu to US dominance.

    I wouldn't do that at all. That's a really bad idea.
