Does anybody know how to spell? Or even a little continental geography?
So there's this Saab out in front of my house that we suspect is stolen. Windows are gone, dashboard has most everything pulled out, been there for a few days, etc. I called the non-emergency police line to see if it was stolen and repeat the license plate number. Turns out there was no record of it being stolen so they presume it was abandoned, so I called 311 and gave them the same details.
Being a former emergency services geek, I repeat letters in phonetics... like "Quebec" for "Q", which is sort of the universal English standard. I say this to both operators when repeating the license plate number. Both stop in their tracks: "Quebec? What's that? How's that spelled?"
Quebec: K---U---B---E---C---K
