what is it like skiing in the us? ive heard aspen is very good, but didnt know there was a ski season on the east
Skiing is incredibly popular in the East. Up in the Adirondacks of New York and Vermont we have some fantastic skiing. In Pennsylvania the vertical drop isn't as good of course, but at least the resorts have snow making capacity to keep all the trails open. In this state, the Poconos offer pretty good skiing along with a few hidden places in Western PA. But the best is located up in Vermont.

...And, it must be said, anybody west of Nebraska laughs at what passes for skiing east of the Rocky Mountains.
