Exactly but to me that term sounds outdated because in my culture that's what tribes are. So I asked him because I wanna know how different it is from what I have in mind

I guess in Libya it's possibly just a term for the big extended family group.

Historically it was like that in Scotland and pretty much everyone here can be traced back to one of the dozen or so big family clans.

That's pretty much how any form of tribal organization starts. Immediate family and then it gets bigger.
