Why do arabs write with numbers in their words? I've wondered for a long time. Seen it on many forums and in some games, hehe.
We use the numbers instead of Arabic letters that either doesn't exist in English or doesn't have a close phonetic sound :D
I hope that cleared things up Daddi, JBF explained it well here.

Allah eysalmak 7abiby.

Good to know nothing happened to you, Fred. Allah tujhe salamat rakhkhae! :)

Thanks man, though i didn't understand any of the blabber in the end and i am considering reporting it because its against forum rules (Not English)

What's "7" being used as a letter? 7abibi for example, why not habibi? :D
Because it not the way we pronounce it in Arabic. We've a letter for the H and another one that we simply use a 7 to cover for it.

Oh and how come you know this much Arabic? Now habbi and not so long ago بقرة what's the catch? :p

We learn Arabic for five years in the school but it's so insufficient to help us speak Arabic or to fully understand people speaking Arabic. We learn some words though :D It's probably the most difficult language to learn.

Also, there are many words in common with Arabic and Farsi. Habib is a word we use (barely) in Farsi too.

Word.

I never knew that you guys learn it at school. So much for the Arab Vs.Farsi BS filling the Arab media for 5 or more years now. Respect.

No you don't get it, the media makes ot looks like the Persians despise both the Arabs and their language too. Actually they picture them hating anything Arabic including the Qura'an as we know it, according to a few sources that is. So you coming up with this is surely an ammunition when being involved in such a debate ;)

:wth:

It's a big lie. I sure hated Arabic language classes but it was just in the same way I hated chemistry classes as I didn't seem to understand either :D
