I just didn't really understand what you meant by "The answer is allowing technology to flourish, which means means allowing saving and investment to flourish".

Sounds pretty ambiguous.

I read that the other day. Everybody loves having a currency worth less.

The only difference between Chavez and our government is at least Chavez just comes out to say what he wants to do instead of hiding behind market manipulation.
I wouldn't praise Chavez for being "real" though, you have to take under consideration that we live under a tight currency exchange control and the currency hadn't been devalued in 5 years, which made the inflation to get as high as 32% each year. And we're living under two realities, the reality of the official dollar/bolivar rate which is absurd and imaginary because not many goods, services and the average citizen are allowed to buy dollars at that rate; and the real reality which is the "black market" that has a rate of dollar/bolivar 2x (and 3x) sometimes the real rate

A country like Venezuela with all the resources shouldn't have to deal with such things. Too bad you guys are stuck with an incompetent president who is more worried about bashing Western leaders than taking care of his country.

P.S FUCK commuinism and socialism
Exactly, there are plants here that can produce electricity with oil and they aren't being used. Probably they're broken

Makes sense. Kind of like turning off the lights when you leave the room or unplugging appliances when you're leaving for a bit.
It doesn't make sense if it's enforced like it's being done here. For example, the zone where my brother goes to school has their electrical regulation from 12 noon til 4. So is he supposed to leave school and stop learning because Chavez's people were idiotic enough to not check and repair the turbines in the hydroelectric station that are broken?

I hear there are vacancies in Haiti. :shifty:
Pre-earthquake I would have considered it :shifty:
You should hook me up with a job, Greg!!

It's called allowing free market capitalism to work. If we want to save ourselves from our oil dependence, we need to move away from a government that doesn't allow us to. We need to allow private technology firms to grow and expand our possibilities on several fronts, including different energy sources. Right now, the Fed is stifling growth on those fronts by keeping their cheap money policy and bail out policy continuing, which means new firms can't get going. So the same folks are in there doing what they do.

Creating new technology is far more efficient than turning out the lights for four hours every other day.

I seriously can't believe the shithole I live in. Chavez just devalued our currency 50% and announced an electricity regulation plan that leaves major cities without electrical power 4 hours per day every 2 days. I need to leave asap
 They do that here. Except they don't tell anybody. Random times, random places. So you're sitting down watching a CL semi-final and boom, the current goes.

What about Social Democrats ? Any F words there too ?
Socialism is sociolism. It is a system that breeds laziness and dependency. The health care system is one messed up situation and by the time you get your appointment to do a surgery or seeing a specialists you might die. The welfare system is big fraud and I don't like how it is structured and most of the poeple on it they are capable of working but choose not to and trick the government. I just don't love this whole wealth sharing system and the poor and the rich should be equal and divide the wealth. You work you earn, and if you are one lazy SOB then F u and you aren't getting any. There too many flaws. Socialism is workable only in heaven where it isn't needed, and in hell where they've got it.
