aren't most of them cute girls who basically whisper in your ear? I can see people being more interested in that than listening to static. IMO it's the same with videogame twitch streamers - there is a huge market for giving people online the impression they are (even momentarily) not alone.

Byt yeah, it's insane what some people do and how much they earn. ASMR is a whole another level, it's basically microphone dick sucking.

Twitch streams are getting huge bucks. I think decent ones get like 10k per month just from subs and they get much more from sponsors and other deals. Not to mention whales. Many of them did hit a million after a year.
