On a more serious note, I got lucky with my current job. We get 15 paid vaca days a year with 5 more personals and all the paid holidays throughout. 5-6 weeks sounds like a dream.

Even in a shithole like Bolivia people get at least 3 weeks of paid vacation. You can get up to 5 weeks if you stay with the same company for several years.

The beauty and the ugly about working for the man.
Your paycheck is the same on weeks you give 110% as the weeks you barely give 60%.
I mean, it’s nice to have several weeks... I’ve had a few 3-4 month vacations that were amazing... but I can also think of some pretty nice 10 (or 14 if two weeks) day road trips down the coast to surf and rock climb in North Cal and visit vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Anderson, etc. Or some epic 10 day hiking trips in the mountains....
I suppose it depends on what you like to do with your time off. I wouldn’t be flying overseas to try sightsee a dozen cities in two weeks, but hiking the Isle of Skye trail or Cape Wrath in Scotland for example, I’d do that in a heartbeat.
I don't mean even travel, but I need longer then 10 days to unwind from work if you are working all year long.
I dont usually even take my 5-6 weeks same time (I did it this time because its first time visiting Somalia in 26 years), usually split to 2 or 3 week periods in different times.
