Heat is not an issue for me. Heat AND high humidity is a killer though.
Worst ever suffocating summer I experienced was not in Africa, Asia, Southern Europe or anywhere else you associate extreme heat with.

It was in friggin Dusseldorf and Köln, few years ago in festival. It was insane level of humidity and combined with 40 degrees that had us feeling like we were trekking in Sahara desert.

Yeah, same here. Had dinner with some peeps last night who were headed to the Algarve. Changed their plans because the highway is essentially covered in fire.
.
Obviously the wildfires in California, Greece and Portugal have been devastating. But the fires in Sweden get me even more worried. Countries like Sweden aren't prepared to deal with this sort of thing. It has never been that much of a threat before. Nevermind the fact that 90% of the country is forest.

Been trying to buy fans and smaller ACs for work for 2 months. They all sold out in my part of the country.
You can always go to Old Trafford... they buy lots of fans.

No, seriously, I heard about the fan sellouts all across Europe. I have minimized my life until I settle into more permanent housing -- as that means anything I buy I have to carry with me on my next move. But I am seriously considering making an exception for a good fan here in the next few weeks.

This has been hella warm summer. Making me rethink my Spain trip in couple weeks, they have like 48-50 C there, co worker just came back looking oven basted like George Hamilton.
Don't all Spaniards look like George Hamilton?

Oh, but when he started out he looked like a Trevor. I see...

@swag you been to Big Sur before? Going camping there as it doesnt look possible go North
Big Sur? I've been dozens of times. One of my favorite places on the planet. I've camped at some great places along the coast there.... including an environmental camp site you have to hike about 1km into from your car that's sweetly situated over smashing ocean waves on the opposite side of a rock outcropping from a waterfall. (You usually have to reserve that 6 months in advance, and even then sleeping can be tough with all the waves crashing around, but I've whale watched from a campsite log there before and it's pretty awesome.)

Highway 1 also finally connected through to more of Big Sur after the massive problems they've had to clean up from mud slides and road wash out, so you can drive further down it than in recent months.

If they aren't set up for it, that can make a huge difference. 35ºC doesn't sound horrible for anybody here in Portugal, but try that on the London Underground and you'll slit your wrists within 20 minutes.

My worst weather still had to be Delhi/Gurgaon in May before the monsoons. It would get to 40ºC at 10am. :seven:

Any recommendations of things to do/ see while i am there.

Group will be a mix of dangling and internally equipped reproductive organs.

Some vegans present, some good Americans.

Considering you post on this forum from morning until night I am genuinely surprised you have friends.

Not in a bad way but I pictured you as some overweight recluse who hadn't seen daylight in years.

Fuck a vegan using a lambskin condom.
Then right after you bust, whisper in her ear that you used a lambskin condom, and give the rest of box.

@s4tch Tips for Budapest?

We are here today and tomorrow, saturday we will have a look at Sziget Festival:lol: :weee:

Now we are in the area of Kyrály street in the center.
sorry, just saw this. we're on holiday, haven't logged in for a few days.

it's terribly hot now in hungary, so i'd say fuck budapest, take a train and come down to the balaton. or try to survive in places like vajdahunyad vára, where there's some forrest/trees to make the summer a bit easier for you.

sziget gonna be cool :weee: one of the biggest festivals in europe. too bad they almost completely ditched the metal genre, still, it's fun.

@s4tch is Hungarian, no? enjoy, Budapest is a magnificent city
 normally i'd say people have to go through the usual sightseeing tour, some baths, museums. whatever you pick for 2 days would be fun. but it's like 35 degrees celsius, and the downtown should be even hotter. even a beach might be a good place to survive.

oh, @Wittl: margitsziget, kopaszi-gát are nice places to chill, too.

Perfect timing, just logged in now. margitsziget sounds nice, we already decided to grab our bath shorts and go there. City center is too hot, just consuming cold beer and icecream with this temperature. :p

Thanks, and enjoy your holiday!

last time I was there was when my plane got cancelled and I ended up staying the night in the city with some friends. it was -15 or -20, yet it was so beautiful we ended up walking around for several hours even with our faces freezing :D

Well, from that description it sounds like having a naked hot tub orgy at Esalen should be in the cards.

But short of that, Big Sur is where you go to generally get away from people. So there really isn't too much to do outside of hiking, camping, some rocky beaches, and getting loaded. The scenery is great -- honestly, it is some of the best in the world I've seen up there with the Amalfi Coast and small islands in the Azores.

Julia Pfeiffer Burns is great. Point Lobos is short but fun and even worth the few bucks to get in unless you're cheap and want to walk in for free. Pfeiffer Beach is good. McWay Falls is totally worth a hike out. Jade Cove is a cool beach too.

Perhaps we need a Latino mod to represent us.

Too many Anglo Saxons.
I don't know if you're making a play, Claudio, but I actually agree with you.
