Lovely!
After you play a few rounds let me know if you see any improvements in your iron shots (not score). I'm always curious to hear different opinions on custom fitted clubs.
I've had a couple of games with them and I'm just starting to figure them out. Won't know properly for a while because it's been freezing when I've played and having not played much I wasn't swinging that well.
I'm not sure I'll be able to say how much difference is down to the custom fit because these clubs are so different to my previous ones. Technology has moved on in the last 12 years, so I'm basically hitting these clubs one club further than my previous set. These are also clubs designed for good players (quite a few of the Ping tour pro's use these irons, most notably Bubba Watson), whereas my previous set was just for okay players.
I already knew that the shaft in my old set (which was regular flex) wasn't stiff enough, so I got a stiff shaft put in. Chose quite a heavy shaft just because I like the feel of a heavy club.
I didn't need anything changed in terms of the length of the club or the lie angle.
The main thing I did was muck around with the lofts to suit my style of play and what I wanted in my bag. I like to carry a 2-iron, but Ping didn't make one for that set. So what I did was have them make all the clubs with 2 degrees less loft than normal. So my 3-iron is actually almost a 2-iron, my 4-iron is almost a 3-iron and so on.
The clubs just feel ridiculously solid when you hit them. Get a beautiful flat, penetrating ball-flight which is perfect for me since I usually play in the wind.
Just need to figure out the exact yardages I hit them once the weather warms up and figure out how receptive they are to me trying to hit the ball high or low or trying to draw or fade the ball.
