I was thinking....

Do you think the forum has changed or the members that have been here the longest have changed?

Please discuss...

No offense to anyone but the AA community isn't doing all that great and they are already legal citizens and born here. What do we think is going to happen to them when we naturalize 11m of these immigrants? As if finding a job for the AA community wasn't already hard enough, imagine trying to compete with people willing to get paid half as much.
The forum. a majority of the posters (you as much as anyone) dont seem to have changed

Aha. I gotcha. I'm not sure what my opinion on that is. Sure, black people from poor environments have it harder but the problem is that there needs to be more development of those neighborhoods. Maybe more manufacturing jobs for example would lead to them having job opportunities. Good pay for low skill. Save up to help your kids move up in life, and so on. I don't think the immigrants are taking jobs from them, because a lot of jobs illegals take, the AAs wouldn't even consider.

Can't just fabricate high paying jobs for low skill. If it's low skill, pay goes to the lowest bidder. Problem with urban AA communities IMO is the family unit with too many black youth being raised in single family households. Then these kids grow up with serious issues and fall into the trap of the "victim" card that society doesn't want them which is bull shit. Can't create fabrication jobs if there is no need for a product. Eventually you will see issues like McDonalds workers striking for $15 jobs ( to flip burgers :howler:). Eventually, with enough trouble stirred they will be replaced by machines (Applebee's is trying it out) that take orders and one person just walks it to you from the kitchen rather than have cashiers anymore.

The market sucks. Barack Obama has been a disaster for job creation since he took office. Black unemployement is as high as its ever been under the FIRST black president. Completely counter productive this guy.

Bush and Obama are two sides of the same coin though.

Ultimately, the main problem is that the middle class is being eroded through the loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs overseas, etc. Ironically, the people stocking up on all these Chinese products at rock-bottom prices at Wal-Mart were just accelerating their own employment demise.

Add to that a cultural reluctance to embrace higher education (too uncool) and many social and economic hurdles to even achieve a higher education even when they do break out as the neighborhood nerds (it's hard to be cool when you're listening to hip hop studying math), and you've got yourself a downward spiral on your hands. And what makes it even worse are the immigrants who are willing to work hard labor for chump change, and there's a lot of social resistance to that saying that ain't worth it either.

We can be smug all we want about it. But without some proper bridges, you end up with entire subsections of society that feel excluded and thus have little or nothing to lose on the grounds that others are on. That's never a good thing in the end. Shrugging your shoulders and saying "free markets are a bitch" might make you feel superior, but that doesn't really make things better when it results in disillusioned people who burn down a neighborhood.

@Osman - Gay Pride opened here today. Where are you?
:D

@swag - At the moment, I can smell everything I've eaten, when I take a dump.
Does it smell like throw up in throw up?

I'm looking forward to the Pride on Saturday. It's always one of the best evenings to go out during the year.

There's just something about gheys and partying.
