I appreciate some of what they're doing, this band, for instance their use of distortion on various instruments etc. I don't like the vocals, and I don't like the overall "esthetics" of their sound. The vibes they're sending out simply isn't absorbed into the chemistry that makes up my soul.

Objectively, I hear that they're very talented. But me and the Flaming Lips don't click. I checked out some of those "pop" tracks as well. Not doing it for me.

The Embryonic stuff was what I liked the most, though.

People say their live performances are a must see. I must say that I'm biased - I love psychedelic sounds.
I disagree with the vocals; imo, Coynes vocal fits the distorted sounds perfectly.

You listened to Embryonic in it's entirety ? Wauw.
I gave them 30 minutes of my time, and during this time I was able to find their sound's core esthetic. All I'm saying is that it doesn't appeal to me. I'm not dissing their actual songwriting, which is very good. It's just their sound and form (presentation) I'm against. Not every element of it, though. I like some of their low-end. For instance, their nack of having large, distorted bass sounds. Some of the drumming I like too. Apart from that, I simply don't like their sound.

My main problem is the vocalist. I need my macho, baritone singers :D

Or else GTFO.
