Dope unique beats/sound, good overall MC in terms of classic style and attitude of the G funk cali era (legend, for chronic as you said)), but put him on a stage and tell him to rap off the cuff, and he'll choke. But he knew his limitations (unlike a punk like Diddy who actually thought he could rap...), thats why he crowded himself with talented lyrical rappers who featured heavily with him and wrote lyrics for him.

Alot of em can write and rap, in fact any rapper who cant write for himself aint no rapper at all (one thing to occasionally use writers, like Snoop done), Dre himself basically says he aint no rapper. Adding production to it is another matter, but there are a few, like Big Krit for example excells at all 3.
And your obbsession with MF doom is charmingly amusing (he is better producer then the other two though for me, very specific type of boom bap beats). But yeah Operation doomsday is nice.
About MF doom, corious about a collabo work he is doing with a kid he is mentoring called Bishop Nehru. Should be nice.

I don't think he does much production, or only some of it. DOOM did like 95% of production on those 3 albums.
DOOM is the best lyricist ever for me. His MCing is pretty dope too but I wouldn't say he is as good as Chuck D, Biggie, Ice Cube etc.
