bring it bitch
Are you just being childish for the heck of it? Its possible to big up an artist without talking shit about another randomly (Brother Ali would shake his head reading this nonsense), one who I doubt you even listened to that much (or you wouldnt be this randomly negative), as I said, listen to Reflection eternal album, Eardrum album and perhaps the Quality album too.

And I mean not just sample one song here or there, but seriously Listen :p

Sounds like you were talking to a (fellow) hipster. Talib Kweli is far from the best (his best pal Mos is way better for one), but he is a solid quality veteran MC, he wouldnt even be in top 10 at all, though I hate the notion of lists. But he defenitely seems way more out of the world amazing now considering what is the norm these days.

But you are more out of touch then your friend, if you seriously think after one good (and very soulful and moving) album Brother Ali is in his own league...

Appreciate the hipster jabs - yumm :p

It's not one album, The Undisputed Truth, Us and his latest are all incredibly good. Granted, I don't listen too a large amount of hiphop - but from the artist I follow and been told to follow bý people whó take pride in their knowledge I can conclude that Ali is the best

Its so hipsterish to obbsess of best this and that, and Brother Ali is just starting out yo, he was just another hardworking underground MC with something to say just some years ago (used to listen to him on and off when he was just another faceless member of rhymesayers with just one album under his name). And he has one truly consistently good album more or less, with couple of other albums (or not even albums, they more more like EPs) with mainly just a couple excellent songs. You are telling me a newish artist without one single album that can be considered even legendary, is the best? People are doubting if Nas is anywhere near the best, and this dude has like 20 years where he has like a minimum of 3 great albums.

One simple challenge, what makes Brother Ali better the the guy who made this movie (which you might find interesting to watch, since you are so eager to quickly name the best of the genre its about):

It's so hipsterish to obsess who is the best? You do not know any hipsters.

Even if he has that one album you're talking about, it's still so good, so real, so well spoken that it instantly propelled him to join the group as one of the greatest. I know it's an hard reaction, but that is what I'm feeling. On the basis of The Undispitued Truth I feel like I can argue that he's as skilled as Nas showed he was at his best. I'm drunk as shit though, so I might not getting my point across properly.

saying that is showing that you barely ever listened to him. it's like me saying mastodon was bad.

those are probably some of his best in terms of lyrics and complexity of rhymes

you really ought to listen to madvillainy. one of the best hip hop albums ever.

I like him more as a producer, but as an MC, despite being an excellent lyricist he is totally not engaging enough as an MC, not too many of his stuff deliver for me, with exceptions though, my favourite exception is:

It's his style, his delivery of sarcasm and humour is great. I'm not saying he's a super amazing MC like Chuck D for example, but it's his style and it works great, certainly not against him.
