I can't believe you're saying St. Anger is a good album, unless I misunderstood you. James' voice was off, drums sounded like tin cans, there are no guitar solos(one of the things Tallica is good at), and the production was shitty. I could never get into that album.

Only A Matter Of Time - Dream Theater

There were a lot of faults with it, but its what the band wanted to and they felt it was the natural progression for them. I enjoyed a lot of the songs on the album, but it is nowhere near their best (Master of Puppets - imo)
