Schalke fans just like the rest of the league wonder what we want with him and'll gladly take the €25m. The biggest fear they have is whether or not it is just an option or an obligation.

Besides that - Schalke are shit. So even if their fans were rating him, it doesn't say much/means he's good enough for us.

Nothing against him, young, hardworking midfielder. But rather strange signing for a club of our size.
Didnt suddeutsche zeitung say it becomes an obligation if we qualify for CL? And in our preas release it says it becomes an obligatuon if we achieve some sporting results? I think its certain he will be bought6

i agree. which is why hopefully he was a specific request by pirlo or our scouting staff recommendation as opposed to pure market opportunity.

Calma, he may not be the handsomest but before too long he will be one of your favorite soccer players.

trust me.
joking aside, i hope you are right. i think for past 5 years we have all been hoping for another fan favorite midfielder to emerge after MVPP. hope he can be that guy

That's only because they don't understand that this is simply a 4 year payment instead of the usual (and maximum?) 3 years.
yeah this makes sense.

I can see the logic in this transfer. If he can get himself in the starting line up regularly enough then the transfer fee will be a bargain because he is probably going to end up being the captain of his national team. So the marketing power of having the American captain in your team will be huge for the club and could result in better sponsorship deals and better revenue opportunities.
