Vidal was too limited offensively? :shifty:
Vidal (at least good Vidal) was vastly superior to Mckennie and most of the ball winning types offensively and technically. I don't really see Ramsey, Pogba or Marchisio as comparable players to Mckennie at all either due to different strengths.

Don't watch enough Premshit to judge their players

Poor performance, needs to learn when to keep it simple.

But the recovering slide tackle on Perisic was superb and he put in a hue amount of running.

vidal type of energy and position awareness.. still lacks some maturity. but he has really great potential and he has the presence on the field.

The Vidal comparison makes sense because Vidal was just a great all round midfielder. He had skill, technique, energy, strength and showed it at either end of the pitch. McKennie is like that too but he's not at Vidal's level. At least not yet.

Who is a rich man's McKennie? Somebody who plays like Wes but is better on the offensive end? I'm guessing an in form Ramsey would be a good shout or peak Marchisio. Vidal is too limited offensively while Pogba isn't as active defensively. Ndombele has all the tools.

Is Wijnaldum still on an expiring contract?
Vidal offensively limited. You are taking the piss. He was played in the hole in a 4-3-1-2 remember.

Vidal was 24 when he came to us, McKennie 22. And Vidal took about one year to reach peak level.
The kid got off to a good start and still has time on his side. I'd say that out of our whole mid, he definitely has the highest potential. Not expecting miracles from Arthur, Rabiot or Bentancur.

Let's slow down with the Vidal comparisons.

We didn't discover 24yo Vidal, he was a star in the BL and for Chile, were able to sign him simply because Leverkusen preferred not to sell to Bayern. If McKennie achieves those levels it would be amazing, but for now lets let him be who he is.

McKennie is good and has been a great surprise but he isn't world class or close to world class. He has the benefit of low expectations coming into this season. There are enough players better than him in his role. He is only 22 though, so he have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about his growth.

Just as it goes for the other players, the negative about his performance yesterday were the unforced errors. He contributed to that worrying number of unforced errors with two needless tricks and flicks after which he gifted the ball to Inter.
Bentancur most of all, but Rabiot, Alex Sandro, Danilo, Buffon etc did that too.

Thank you.

Those who compare him to Vidal aren't doing him any favours.

You can compare his hustle and bustle play style to Vidal playstyle. But that's where it should be stopped. Period. Expecting him to be anything more then a fraction of the impact Vidal had is simply not doing him any favours.

Agreed, he is not on Vidal's level technically, not even close. He has shown himself to be useful in the final third because of his ability in the air, clever runs and smart play just keeping it simple.

nah prime vidal was top 3 mid in the world in his prime
For sure...but as were players like davids at the time. Davids was a god..to think we had davids and zidane in the same team..makes me cry.

As for McKennie...he has a long way to go to be at davids or vidal level in their prime. But he is heading in the right direction. If he can get to 70 percent of what davids was then we should be jerking off over him.
