It wasn't a good mercato because considering the fact that we have half of our starting eleven on their thirties or more, we brought average players bar Morata and Coman. Needless to remind you about Morata's buy-back fiasco.
I acknowledged the buy back clause in my post, and if he turns out great just to get bought back it will be a small-scale disaster, but I don't think it will be that way, if the reports that Morata can refuse are true.

And yeah, it wasn't a great Mercato, but it wasn't a bad one as well. I think I've given it ~6/10 back then, which I stand by.

Could we have done better? Yes, absolutely. But to say we had a miserable transfer window, or to even call cor Marotta's head goes way too far. Not really referring to you with the last part btw, I think your assessment is rather fair actually.

The broader picture can be criticised, but I find it hard to do so convincingly when basically every transfer of the summer makes sense in its own :D

We desperately needed backup at CM -> Pereyra, who can moreover deputise at AM and if need be winger as well
If we want to move to a back four (one of the strongest demands of the forum since ever btw), we need cover at the fullback positions -> Romulo & Evra

In both cases, details can certainly be criticised, for example the greatest mistake of Marotta in my books during the past few years was not signing Nainggolian, who, for roughly the same price, would've provided more quality than Pereyra. I'm not the biggest fan of Evra either, but on the other hand I fail to see any alternative affordable player who we could've gotten.

Morata now is a different case, which in my opinion actually disproves the mantra of Marotta always being too conservative. His acquisition was defenitely a risk. On the other hand, he's exactly the type of player Marotta's critics always wanted us to get: Young, talented, with worldclass potential. His buyback clause is cause for concern, but there's also enough reason to believe it's more a formality than anything else.
I agree with you a long way down the road.

First tho, the signing of Morata isn't really that ground breaking. A top talent from one of the biggest clubs in the world? Nah, won't really change anything in terms of Marotta's conservative approach.

Secondly, Marotta's and our problem isn't the players we signed it's rather the players we didn't sign. As I stated you can legitimise any of our signings in the right context, but non of them have solved our biggest problems [yet]. The next generation and our offense shooting blanks.

Thirdly, I would love to see us actively search unknown and untraditional markets. Obviously this is a guess, but I'm quite certain our scouting department shares a rather conservative approach to youngsters.

We have plenty of youth getting experience to take over for the old guard. Rugani & Berardi for starters. We own like a million goalies to take over for Buffon. Why is everyone forgetting the young players we have out there. Stuaro as well.

Plus Coman could easily become class (or flop if he doesn't get more time, but that's more down to Allegri than Marotta).
I thought you were against loaning out youth. Now you're using them to strengthen your own arguments?

I don't rate them as much as most do.

Let's not kid ourselves. Morata won't refuse his childhood club. The only question here is if he'll do enough here to tempt Real at coming back for him.

lol I never said I was pro-loans, I hate them but if they are getting better and good enough to come back to play for Juventus then the kneejerking here about the age issue seems irrelevant.

Which you shouldn't. There's a huge margin of error among talents.

Besides it ain't really the players between 12 and 20 that's the worry. It's the players between 21 and 27.

One should ask United fans how it felt skipping an entire generation of players.

Does Rio, Vidic, Scholes, Evra, Giggs, Carrick and Van Persie ring a bell?

He is not motivated because he is a big player who is not playing big games. When he comes to Juve he will be a different player. He will be fighting for the title and playing for a top team. I am sure we will see the same player we see with Holland once he is at Juve.

I am certain he would be a big success here. He is a top player and is simply just in purgatory.

lol Giovinco is no where near as good as Sneijder. Sneijder has played 111 games for Holland, played for Real Madrid, and won the CL with Inter. Giovinco has done virtually nothing in his entire career. He could not even break into the Juve team even when we were not a great team.
So what if he played for madrid so did faubert and drenthe should we sign them too? Fact is sneijder will have no impact on our european campaign this season as hea cup tied that said id sooner save money and work with what we have if all the board are thinking about is securing the league

How did we NOT start securing ourselves for our older players (who are perfectly fine apart from Barzagli btw) ?

That would be true if you have a very short memory and forget about the following acquisitions: Coman, Berardi, Rugani, Pogba, Morata, Pereyra & Sturaro.

And yes, anyone who is still having doubts on Pereyra, should start watching a game first. All he needs to learn is finishing and he will.

Diamanti av coming up!
Can we say bye-bye Wes? :D

However, there is a quote here from the agent of Sneijder:
Albers (Sneijder's agent) "Sneijder loves the club (Gala) & the fans. He & Yolanthe (Sneijder's wife) want to stay in Istanbul."

How the hell can he love Galata when he didn't get his salary since 3 months? :D

And he will?. You are talking bollocs now. First of all, he is not 15 years old. He is already a pro footie player and its obvious he horridbly lacks inherent scoring skills. Stop fooling yourself thinking he will magically learn how to score.

The way you claim he WILL learn, like if you could see the future, is embarrasing

Agent: Sneijder will cost Juve €20m

“Galatasaray don’t want to sell Sneijder,” agent Guido Albers told Bugun TV in Turkey.

“Wesley loves the club and its fans. Neither he nor his wife want to leave Istanbul.”

It had been reported that Juve were offering €2m to Galatasaray, plus an 18-month contract worth €4.5m to the Dutch international.

“If Juve are really interested, then they should talk to Galatasaray and pay the €20m buy-out clause in his contract.

“Not €5m, nor €10m or €12m. They need €20m. They have no need to talk to me, as I’m not the one who can sell the player.

“In any case, I can confirm that so far no offers have come in and Wesley is happy at Galatasaray.”
    @Mark reopen diamanti thread ? :D
