then you're counting on moggi to prevent it then, stu?
Not necessarily. That's one possibility, but I just don't think that Roma can afford or will be able to afford (unless they sell Totti) both Ferrari and Mexes. The club is in debt so they can't use all of the money coming from the Samuel and Emerson transfers for transfers of their own, and Sensi is adamant that Cassano and Totti will still be Roma players come September so I don't see where they're going to get the money from.

HAHAH! Roma have sum mad quality players i wouldnt mind half tht team in the Juve squad! Ah cmon man dont b too harsh on Zebina, hes an alrite player, at least we didnt get Panucci!!
I am not: I think Zebina is a decent player who cost us nothing. Nonetheless, out of all talented Roma players, we may end up with Zebina only!:dazed:.
As for Panucci, lets not get there ;).

Stuart,

My guess is that Roma is paying very little sums of cash given that Cesare Bovo and Ferronetti are included in the deal and hence I do think it is possible that they can raise enough sums to buy both Mexes and Ferrari. However, this is based on the assumption that Mexes will be bought for pittance that they are offering (I am not going to criticize Roma because we are doing exactly the same thing to them :D), and thus if the trasfer falters I reckon it will be more to do with ruling than lack of funds.
Nonetheless, I do see your point: How are they going to play 5 CBs reguarly especially given the fact that Prandelli likes to use 4-4-2 formation? My guess is that they are going to sell Dellas or Panucci, and the former is a real possibility IMO given his impressive performances in Euro. Mexes - Ferrari - Chivu lineup? Heck it pisses me off that all these players were taken under our noses.:groan:

Calciomarcato is saying that Moggi is planning to sell Maresca and Tudor. Along with Diva's transfer that would raise around 21 mil €, which he would use on Emerson and Gilardino.

That sounds nice, but it isnt enough. We'd still need one or two central backs, a left or right winger (depending on where Capello wants Zambrotta to play), and a new playmaker would alseo be nice.

imo this mercato has been weird..we have looked at the required areas...but signed shite, and not much of that to top it off either.

We needed at least 3 defenders,of a young high class...we got zebina, and chiellie...young but either shite and unproven, we may get oddo...but none of them are the topclass cb's we required.

We needed wingers/am, as we already have a plethora of dm's..tac, appiah, enzo, brighi and blasi...those guys could handle it easily...but moggi goes for emo...more on this later.

The fact we have needed a left winger for yonks and have been deprived of width for a long time hase been taking its toll on us...but in the past neddy came and saved us..but he is gonna start loosing it, who then?? camo  no.

upfront we had four top class forward, even with negative opinions towrd dyo, he still did a very good job when on form, trez will score, but we need mobility, and the only mobile forward we have is micco, so right now, im seeing as the onyl real consistant threat upfront..trez wont be threat bar in the box....and dp...well we will see.

now with moggi chasing emo , i believe he has taken his eye off the ball, we are focusing on an admitadly top player, but we didnt desperately need him...we still have lego and monty for cb's, and no consistant wingers, no problems we be solved so far.

So moggi will need some big tricks to ammuse the tiffosi otherwise i can see a negative season coming up...simply due to a naff job in the market....jesus, kapo is what we want , but moggi is looking to loan him...why??:fero:

If Kapo continues to impress in the pre-season friendlies then surely Capello will tell Moggi not to loan him. I reckon he'll be a very useful addition to our squad this season, granted that he stays of course, because we lack a natural leftie with pace, like Kapo.

So we could just throw Maresca on the scrap heap and that'd 'sound nice', end of story? I'd much rather keep Maresca and just use however much cash he's worth to get Emerson and Gilardino :( I mean it's not like we have so little money that we have to clear out all our players. ffs roma's in a much worse financial position than us, and it's very likely that they could sell less and sign more players than us this season. :fero:

Haha I am pretty sure Claudio is a popular man in Valencia ;).

Anyway, I totally agree with John: This mercato has been pretty weird upto now. We havent been active upto now, and failed to sign players that I feel can contribute immediately and is young. And we have been linked with too many old players IMO: Oddo, Canna, Campbell, Vieri et el are not the type of players we need at this stage. The players we should be bring are young hungry ones that will increase the competition for places, and desire to win games which we lacked last year IMO. Loosing Mexes and Ferrari to Roma hurts me big time, and if they play well next season, I am going to have hard time getting over it, especially given the fact that they have been signed for peanuts. Nonetheless, I do like Emerson signing: He is one of the best in the business who combine aggressiveness and finesse very well. He will provide passing, and protection that were missing from the midfied last year, and he is a champion who loves to compete. Furthermore, I am not sure whether Blasi, Brighi, Appiah can hold their ground given the pressure of starting job in Juve. I would love to sell Tach, and loan Appiah out, to make room for Emerson.
Mostly importantly, as I have criticized Moggi's inability to ship out old stars, I hope Di Vaio is a start of major overhaul: Camoranesi, Montero, Tach should be sold ASAP, and if we can sign suitable replacements I wouldnt mind seeing the back of Thuram.

Moggi's comments on Radio24:

"The attack will stay like that, our 4th striker is Zalayeta, the defense rejuvenated with Chiellini and Zebina, and in midfield the only transfer could be Emerson but Roma are making it hard to deal with."

:blah: :blah: :blah:

Like we should believe him? If that's the case...

i say stick him in to start with... class player who will be able to be a play maker also....he jus needs to keep imrpoving and impresing then bingo....we have our playmaker/winger problem solved in one fell swoop.
