Still believe World Cup 2006 was the best. Some much quality and great moments; the Holland vs Portugal bloodbath, the Zidane Headbutt the controversy in the Italy Austrai game, Rooney getting sent off against Portugal.

Looking at the Argentina squad, they're extremely top heavy. They basically have no one but strikers (some of the very best strikers in the world mind you!).

No, it wasn't. World Cup 94 and 98 were the best over the past 20+ years. 2002 was absolute shit, possibly the worst WC in the modern era, and it was closely followed by 2006 and 2014. 2010 was slightly better than both 2006 and 2014.

better in terms of what? because if you go by accumulation of world class players and teams, 2006 is much better than 2010 and 2014

:agree: About the quality of players in 2006, but I also do realize a lot on here enjoyed it more due to sentimental reasons, Italy winning it and all. In terms of the quality of football displayed and overall entertainment factor, 2010 probably edges it ahead of 2006. 2014 was meh, and upon revisiting my earlier statement, I'd put it behind 2006, and ahead of 2002, which was by far the worst tournament.

2010 was pure shite, otherwise I agree. 2002 was literally a joke of a competition.

1994 and 1998  Especially 1994 was monumental. All in all football reached it's maximum in the mid 1990's - 1994 a great example.

2010 was the worst WC IMO.

Poor quality of football, shitty boring games, Spain’s disgusting tiki-taka rubbish in full effect, vuvuzelas. Ugh. 2002 is the next worse.

Agree. The best WC was 1998 followed by 2006, imo.

I hope France can win it. Personally I doubt it tbh, I don't think Deschamps does a particularly good job, and I also think that the relative inexperience of some of those talented young players might work against them in the latter stages of the tournament. There is no doubt though that its an extremely exciting team with Griezmann, Mbappe, Dembele, Pogba and co.
