Undeserved as a judge today's perfomance by two teams.
Argentina could take the chance. Palacio and Higuain lost incredible chances.

Messi is the best player of his generation. But he can't prove that he is a level over Maradona.
In the grand scheme of things he is for sure behind Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo, Zidane, Romario, Beckenbauer, Puskas...

0 goals in 7 WC knockout matches is absolutely pathetic and just shows how far from the best he is when taken out of his Barcelona element. All the players I listed were brilliant for every club they played for, and for their national sides on the biggest stage of all. Messi is best in a generation of footballers that is lacking a player of the above-mentioned calibre.

:touched:
I still don't understand how he thought he would beat Neuer from that distance seeing as there was no wall in front of Neuer and he could track the shot all the way in. Worst footballing decision of the final. A smart player would have crossed that into the box and hoped for a header, or a lucky bounce. Messi scores on Neuer from that distance 1 in 1000 times.

Selfishness. Even vastly superior free kick takers, like Zizoi, Alex, Pirlo, Juninho would have crossed the ball from that angle and distance. He trully has been a flop in the knock out rounds and whoever mentions him as the greatest ever should be punched.

Man this germany team will be a great foe for next world cup as well . Draxler , reus , schurrle , hummels , howedes , boadstuber , muller ,schmelzer , ozil , khedira , kroos will all participate in the next one as well and will all be even more matured . Sweini and lahm if they keep good form may be on the team as well . Add to that rising starts which will definetly show up seeing germany's work with youngsters recently and they definetly are strong contenders of the next world cup , injuries permitting

So much can change.
If you look at Spain in 2010, you'll see so many important players being so young at the time. Their peak should have happened in 2014, yet they failed miserably.

That's true , but on paper they have a pretty strong squad for the next tournament
